If Ireland comments about #1 and #22 holding the same value was just a slip of the tongue then why not this:

Dallas sends Miami #22, Jason Ferguson, Bobby Carpenter, Marcus Spears, and Anthony Fasano for Miami's 1st round pick, #1 overall.

Gives Jerry the coveted McFadden and Miami gets some starters but would have been backups for us except possibly Spears.

Maybe Spencer for Williamson. He didn't really add anything this year and won't next year with Ellis having the job locked up. It is always a waste to have a first sitting on the bench contributing only in role situations.

If we can find a team interested in Carpenter, I say make the trade.
I agree. You can draft special teams guys who are good in the locker room in any round.

If I was the King of Sparta, I would totally kick your *** into the "well of death". Consider yourself lucky I'm not.

Carpenter is a good backup, a good Special Teams guy, and seems to be good in the locker room. I think the desire to jetison him already is premature.

No trade.

Since Bobby Carpenter is on the block, I was thinking about possible trade scenarios and though of this one:

Carpenter to the Vikings for receiver Troy Williamson

Two - to this point - disappointing #1 draft picks straight up for one another.

Would allow both teams to 'save face'

Would give both players fresh starts in schemes which may better suit them

Thoughts?

Not too bad a deal - - - for the Vikings....

I think I'd pass on this stasheroo.

Maybe Carpenter and Williamson are both busts...but I think Carpenter has a better chance of being a better contributor to this team than Williamson would...

I think it will be interesting to see how Wade handles the offseason, mini camps, training camps in regards to the LBers.

Obviously, Ware and James are locks to be starters. But I think the other two positions could be up for grabs.

Spencer now has a year of experience, which was Wade's goal from the start....to start Ellis and bring Spencer along slowly.

And despite Carpenter not getting much playing time, I think he could still figure into the mix at ILB.

I think coverage from the ILB spot was pretty troublesome for Wade. And I think he'll want to give Carpenter another chance at the ILB spot. And the reality of it is, this was Carpenter's first year at just one position. Up until this year, he was moving around from OLB to ILB then back to OLB.

Then he suffered a quad injury this year....

By all reports, Carpenter is a smart player and works hard. We know he is a pretty good athlete too and can cover... Something just hasn't clicked for him. Hopefully a year of sticking to one position (ILB) will make it "click" for him. And if it does, he'll be an upgrade over Ayodele.

Maybe it never happens....but I'd rather gamble on Carpenter than Williamson at this point.

I agree, but I want to see him on the field on defense more this coming year. If a first round LB can't make it on the field in the standard defense in 3 years, that's not good.

Why don't we just go ahead and throw in Ware, Romo, Barber, and Witten while we're at it.
