Where has it been reported that the Rams, or anybody has inquired about Tebow? Tebow would be all over that if so.

I doubt he has much value, and we really need to have a quality contingency plan when/if Romo goes down.

The thing about aged, journeyman quarterbacks like Orton is that they are usually much more valuable to their current team than any other because (1) they do not have franchise potential and (2) they are completely familiar with their current team's offense.

Dude, there you go, a post without taking shots at anyone, and a quality post at that. ;)

But there is a reason why the Rams have looked at Favre and Tebow: they wouldn't have to give up anything to get them, other than money.

The Rams will not likely give up future draft picks for someone like Orton. Their season is over. They are looking to the future. Probably looking for another franchise QB once Bradford leaves. It doesn't make sense to give up part of their future to get someone like Orton. Even if a tiny piece of their future. They are going to need all the draft picks they can get.

Then why don't they just roll with whoever their back-up is?

First off, I don't buy the theory that if Romo goes down our season is over, if by that it is meant that our goal is to make the playoffs. The last time Romo went down we had a better record without him than with him. That does NOT mean that we don't need Romo, or that whoever comes in behind him is equal or better. Steve Beureline was not Aikman's equal, nor was Steve Walsh, but for short periods the team could still win, even though they would have never won a Super Bowl with those guys.

However, I'm not sure Orton is that kind of guy. He is actually so mediocre that I don't think he would do as well as Kitna did the last time we had to call on someone.

Either way, they are NOT trading Orton.

Jake Locker does not belong in that sentence.

I see a lot of Romo in his game. I actually like Locker and think he is going to be a good one if he can stay healthy. The other 2 players are a joke and couldn't believe they went in the 1st rd

You mean a blue chip QB like Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, or Christian Ponder? The 3 blue chip 1st round QBs in the 2010 draft?

Have you actually watched Locker lately? When healthy, the guy looks a lot better than he has in the past.

Given that we would only get a late round pick for Orton, I don't think trading him is worth it. Yes, if Romo goes down for the season we're not going anywhere. But what if he goes down for 3-4 weeks in November when we will clearly be in contention for the NFCE, and fairly likely in the lead due to crappiness of the division? If you believe in Orton as your backup, even if just for one more year, then giving yourself a chance to stay afloat is more valuable than that 6th rounder or whatever.

He's also got a pretty hefty contract for a backup, that can't help his cause.

Because they think they can get somebody better without sacrificing draft picks. They are probably just looking for a backup anyway. They are likely sticking with whoever is starting this week no matter who they pick up.

That would be kinda like trading your spare tire for a coupon at the parts store that you can't use till the summer time then heading off to grammas house.

Alright so the plan is to trade Romo and risk getting the next Blaine Gabbert for the chance at getting the next Jake Locker. Brilliant.

Just my thought......... What about Orton and a 3rd or later pick for Chris Long... Fair for both sides I think...

I hate when people say if Romo goes down our season is over.

1 This division stinks so we'll be in the playoffs.

2. We come out with these bus driver game plans all the time and win games.

It would be incredibly difficult to win if Romo goes down but our season would definetely not be over. Orton is a guy that can get streaky.
