Of course not.

You keep that "starting quality guard" so he can be a gameday inactive.

Who needs that depth LBer who might be able to play a couple of downs and on special teams?

Do you really think the Cowboys will escape this season without a significant injury or two on the offensive line?

Leary will be your starter sooner or later most likely.

If Dallas didn't go so cheap on the dl I would say yes if the lb was the real deal but no.

It really has nothing to do with him as a player. It is more to do with what he can do each Sunday. Unless he is starting, he is probably a healthy scratch who does not dress because all he can do is play left guard. He is basically insurance if Collins gets hurt or has to move to another position on the line.

Exactly why I keep him.

I like it. Trade Leary straight up for Kuechly. Problem solved.

Cowboys need a legit pass rusher more than LB depth. Package him for a starting DT or DE instead. Future 3rd or 4th rounders mean squat to Cowboys, they are notoriously bad drafters in the mid-rounds.

Doesn't need to be a starter, but someone to add depth and can compete to start.

Exactly! Leary is a back up who can step into the starting position when needed, so go after a linebacker who can do the same. Nobody is asking for a superstar linebacker, we just want somebody to fill the void until JSmitty is ready

I don't like robbing Peter to pay Paul, so to speak. Keep the intensity of the offense in tact...and work out something else.

that starting quality guard might need to play if one of your starting guards suffer a neck injury in training camp, oh like what happened last year to Martin........now where would you like to have better quality depth, hmmmm a guy protecting your starting QB in Romo or maybe some veteran you can get off the street to play linebacker???????....

How about we rob Peter to "play" Paul...it beats sitting on the inactive list....

There are plenty of quality LBs available as free agents. No need to trade a guy that is top 6 OL on our team.

I only want a LB for Leary if we can get a starting quality one, which is doubtful. For depth we're probably better off just signing the best LB we can find off waivers. Does anyone know if a team out there is stacked at that position?

Leary for Paul Dawson:p

I'd keep Leary for insurance. Zeke is one of the most powerful weapons on the team now and with the shape of our defense, why close up a hole for him if an O Lineman goes down when we're going to have to score a lot of points to win games. I think the Cowboys are more likely to pick up a LB off the trash heap once the cuts start.

I'd also sign Hardy to another of those incentive-laden one year deals.

So we keep an insurance guard and overpay for an inactive just in case we get an OL injury, but other spots on the roster we go anorexic, like QB.

Makes a lot of sense.

I am in favor of trading Leary. But we already have a bunch of guys who can "play a couple of downs and on special teams."

If im trading Leary, its for a young DB or WR.

I dont have high expectations onnthe returns. A middle of the road starting caliber safety, a capable #2/3 CB, or a young WR with #2 upside and Im happy

You will get nothing for him. The NFL doesn't work that way.

What LB's are out there and what teams need an OG that we could swing a trade.
Now that Ro Mclain is out for 10 games. Should be cut. But all of that is for another thread.

Also there is one out there about signing Durant. Not sure if any other FA's been brought up in that one, as I have not read through all of them yet.

Hope to keep this one for trade possibilities. I know it's probably too soon to look to a trade. But once TC starts and teams have a few weeks to evaluate players, possibly a few injuries happen. Should they then look at trading Leary for a LB unless one of our own guys steps up first.

Trade him for a QB !!!!
