I would like 5 guys that all have the ability to develop. I don't think we could draft a guy who could be an impact player where we are at. I wouldn't mind getting rid of all the 5th and lower picks and even trading our 1st round pick to aquire a good 5 picks in the top 100.
I agree, where we're at we prob cant get an impact player unless we get lucky
thats why I think they will consider trading up, especially if a guy they really like falls out of the top-5 picks...getting into the top-5 prob isnt something they'd try, but trading up to around 7 or 9 perhaps could be
its just a hunch...I just see them as sitting there and thinking they hve a pretty solid roster, no real needs and possibly a key player away from being a legit championship team
I am never in favor of drafting for backups, which is what might happen if we trade down and end up with a bunch of guys who we hope pan out 2-3yrs from now...thats kinda what happened in 1995..w.e had a pretty solid roster, especially the top 22-25 players...Jones moved down multiple times and even proclaimed "we're drafting for backup roles"...now granted the scouting wasnt great then, but we were in a position to maybe move up and get another key guy that could have really helped (hindsight being 20/20, a WR that could start should have been the prime target)
like I said its just a hunch and probably wont happen, but I wont be surprised at all if we move up 10-12 spots or so on draft day
