What do you guys think the trade value would be for Lawrence if we tag him at the end of the year and trade him?

What would it take in trade compensation for you to trade him in the offseason?

Given his injury history, not as much as you think. Better off keeping him.

Injury history should definitely be a factor in his contract Price. What do you think it will take to sign him will it take to sign him?

He is probably worth top 25 money. I'm not sure he is worth more than that with his injury history, lack of overall production over the life of the contract.

I don't care if he leads the league in sacks I would not pay him top 5 money. Incentives are fine though.

If team is going to pay a player 18M for a season, they will not want to also give up a draft to do it. They could sign free agent without a significant injury history and not give up any picks.

That's a fair point. But if Lawrence ends up with 16 sacks I would think the demand for him would be high.

For years we been complaining how we need to get "rushmen" with sufficient talent to be a force for sacks. Once we finally do, we're now talking about trading them for whatever they'll bring? Seems to me like we'd better off getting a consistent plan to improve this team and stick with it.

At some point, we have to trust those who bring success. I'm inclined to franchise Lawrence to find out if he'll continue to produce in the long run. If so, there's at least a fighting chance to enjoy several years or more of outstanding production. Sending him packing for another player only ensures taking yet another risk that may or may not prove successful.

There are no guarantees of ongoing success, no matter what manner of procurement is being undertaken. Ultimately, there's no substitute for sound management and good talent evaluation, regardless of the method being employed. Having good players will always be reliant upon sound judgment to ensure any team having a consistently good level of talent.

Wouldn't trade him. He's only 25 so the team can either franchise him and risk his price going up if he repeats this year, or they can just bite the bullet and sign him to a deal.

The team is in a long enough drought as far as big contracts are concerned that they shouldn't have to worry about this guy. They haven't been active in free agency, if they cannot afford to keep the players they hit on then what the hell are they doing?

Well it depends on how he and the team finish the season. But I would franchise him and make him do it again next year

$18M ( TAG $$$) seem a bit much to me.......what about the transitional tag?

1. No one would give more than a late first rounder, maybe. You couldn’t get 2 firsts, which is the only price I’d even consider.

2. Jerry has seen what no pass rush does to the secondary for many years now. He will not trade DLaw. He will sign him, which is the correct move barring injury. Unlike others here, I see no way we franchise DLaw....won’t happen.

I franchise him and make him prove that he can do it again and this is not a contract year performance we are seeing.
Next year would technically be a contract year too in that case...sign him at 13.5 per and be done with it

I believe he's a RFA and can be tendered for a 3rd with an option to match. Thats the best way to go IMO if someone offers him too much money take the 3rd.

I see Irving being more valuable and they guy id offer a contract to first.

We've spent what seems like a million yeas without a semblance of a pass rush. We are 6 games into the year and have a couple of guys finally getting there. I'm not trading anyone until the dust settles.

Olivier Vernon got a 5-year, $85 million contract from the Giants. And that was coming off of a year in which I think he only had about 7 sacks (someone can double check that).

That's $17 million a year.

I see no way, based on the year he's having, that Lawrence would accept anything less than that much.

Based on all factors, including suspension and injury history, I can't see another way to go other than the franchise tag at about $18 million for the year.
