2. Jerry has seen what no pass rush does to the secondary for many years now. He will not trade DLaw. He will sign him, which is the correct move barring injury. Unlike others here, I see no way we franchise DLaw....won’t happen.

I think Jerry quit making trades because he usually gets his *** burned.

Irving and Lawrence have been the only reliable pass rushers we've had in years. Collins had an impressive rookie season but has to do more to show he's someone we can build around.

For years we been complaining how we need to get "rushmen" with sufficient talent to be a force for sacks. Once we finally do, we're now talking about trading them for whatever they'll bring? Seems to me like we'd better off getting a consistent plan to improve this team and stick with it.

At some point, we have to trust those who bring success. I'm inclined to franchise Lawrence to find out if he'll continue to produce in the long run. If so, there's at least a fighting chance to enjoy several years or more of outstanding production. Sending him packing for another player only ensures taking yet another risk that may or may not prove successful.

There are no guarantees of ongoing success, no matter what manner of procurement is being undertaken. Ultimately, there's no substitute for sound management and good talent evaluation, regardless of the method being employed. Having good players will always be reliant upon sound judgment to ensure any team having a consistently good level of talent.

$18M ( TAG $$$) seem a bit much to me.......what about the transitional tag?

Player Total
Value
Avg./Year
Olivier Vernon $85,000,000 $17,000,000
Jason Pierre-Paul $62,000,000 $15,500,000
Calais Campbell $60,000,000 $15,000,000
Everson Griffen $58,000,000 $14,500,000
Cameron Jordan $55,000,000 $11,000,000
Michael Bennett $29,500,000 $9,833,333
Vinny Curry $46,250,000 $9,250,000
Cameron Wake $9,125,000 $9,125,000
Jerry Hughes $45,000,000 $9,000,000

18 million is costly but no matter what hes going to be pricey. I think its smart to make him prove it once more then if he does we can work out a long term deal. This team has been burnt too many times by committing too soon. I will admit its brilliant sometimes but it can kill you when you're wrong. Not sure about the transition tag but I do know I dont want to risk losing Dlaw.
