I just heard from the "grapevine" that there are trade talks happening. I don't know anything more than that, but the guess is a CB. Bly out of Denver maybe? Interesting thought...

there is talk here in DC about Washington trying to trade for Dre Bly out of Denver. Bly doesn't want to be in Denver and wants to play for the skins.

I thought Dre Bly was traded to Denver? Oops my bad, you said that.

I read that Dre Bly IS NOT happy in Denver and may demand another trade.

Can you clarify what this means?

Very vague post.

The Grapevine is someone in Dallas. Not connected to the media. Not directly connected to the Cowboys or NFL, but directly connected to another local professional sports franchise. (No I don't mean a player) I can't reveal anymore than that. Take it at face value. The trade talks (at least what I'm told) have to do with the Cowboys. It doesn't mean it's Bly or that it's a CB. Those were mainly a guess from what little information I was told.

An attempt to be cool? Need some attention? The face value I take it as is worth squat. Post something serious for a change.

Jason LaConfora is less vague

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/

Live I've been writing since Sunday, don't rule out this Dre Bly trade just yet people, because I continue to hear this cat is pushing to get to DC bigtime, and it seems like the trade talks are still on. The stuff I hear just won't go away and I am beginning to think it is going to happen.

And, trust me, these teams have been talking about swapping draft picks for weeks, I hear on very good authority, and have already had the parameters of several potential deals in place. So, I still think there is a very good chance we see Bly come to DC, along with Denver's first round pick, and second and/or third round pick, plus maybe a conditional late round pick, in exchange for the 6th overall pick.

In that scenario, the Skins would make a big play for the 19-year old D Lineman from Louisville, Okoye, to address that need, and get a young O line and D lineman with the additional picks (I hear they love this kid by the way). Also, Springs would likely get traded for picks (don't rule out him landing in Detroit, Arizona or even Baltimore) and Bly gets his money in Washington.

And trust me, I am not going to put everything I know out there right now, but the Skins could make this happen cap-wise, with little problem.

My last post is the best I can do, sorry. :(
Better...but you can't provide anymore details as to what type of trade, at least position-wise?

The problem with posting something like this is that the info is so vague and not very detailed, so it's almost useless to really form an opinion. Not that your info isn't appreciated, but do you understand what I'm saying?

Commanders Target Broncos' Bly
Club Creates Cap Room by Restructuring Additional Contracts

By Jason La Canfora
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, March 7, 2007; Page E04

The Washington Commanders, after netting primary free agent targets linebacker London Fletcher and cornerback Fred Smoot, are poised to acquire cornerback Dre' Bly from the Denver Broncos.

The Commanders were $8.4 million under the cap yesterday before re-signing reserve cornerback Ade Jimoh, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

The Commanders completed another sweeping series of contract restructurings to create the cap room, according to sources -- only two new contracts have been announced by the team thus far -- and remain interested in Bly. Washington attempted to get him from Detroit before he was traded to the Broncos.

The Commanders offered Bly a lucrative contract extension during trade talks, numerous NFL sources said, while Denver has been unwilling to compensate him beyond the $4.2 million base salary he has for 2007.

Bly has told numerous past and present teammates of his desire to play for Washington, and several NFL sources believe the Broncos are willing to part with him. Denver was scheduled to have free agent cornerback David Macklin visit yesterday.

The Broncos and Commanders have been discussing trade possibilities since before the combine last month, according to sources with knowledge of the situation, with Denver coveting Washington's sixth overall pick and the Commanders looking to trade down and reacquire a second- and third- round pick, which were dealt away (the Broncos have the Commanders' third-round selection from the T.J. Duckett trade).

Denver tried to get running back Ladell Betts in the deal, according to sources, but Coach Joe Gibbs has been intent on pairing Betts and Clinton Portis in the backfield next season.

The Commanders were offering veteran cornerback Shawn Springs for Bly, but those talks stalled when Washington asked for additional cap relief to offset Spring's $7.5 million cap charge and Denver declined, sources said. Last month the Broncos made a proposal involving middle linebacker Al Wilson, their first-round pick (21st overall), a third-round pick and perhaps a second-round pick to land Washington's sixth-overall pick, according to a source, but the Commanders preferred Fletcher, who was their prime objective in free agency.

Should Denver be willing to essentially replace Wilson with Bly in trade talks, the potential for a deal could be high. Also, the Broncos could still make a play for Springs, whom Washington asked to take a $2 million pay cut, or the Commanders could attempt to trade Springs for draft picks if they acquired Bly.

Given Washington's cap standing, and the fact the team could create an addition $4 million in space by cutting injured kicker John Hall and reserve defensive lineman Renaldo Wynn, absorbing Spring's cap charge would not be prohibitive.

The Commanders began creating cap room by restructuring tackle Jon Jansen's deal last month, giving him a $10 million signing bonus but slashing his 2007 base salary. Backup quarterback Mark Brunell also agreed to a very cap-friendly new contract, with no guaranteed money. Over the weekend the club also announced the extension of guard Randy Thomas's contract, and, sources said, in the process lowered his 2007 cap charge from $5.5 million to $3.3 million. Thomas's deal is nearly identical to Jansen's, according to a source with knowledge of the contract, including a $10 million bonus. Thomas, whose previous contract was voidable after 2007, thus making him eligible for unrestricted free agency next year, is now signed through 2011, the source said.

I can't imagine that any team would give up much in the way of draft picks for Springs.

Yes I understand, but untill something actually happens in the NFL, it's nothing more than speculation anyway. I offered what information was offered to me. If it just upsets people, I won't offer it.

I'm not as pathetic as *your attempt* to make me look that way, but thanks for playing.

I understand, you can only post what you know.

But don't misunderstand what I mean. It's just hard to go by. Like let's say you posted that the guy heard the 'boys are maybe looking to trade for a linebacker...as if we need another...then that would drive the discussion.

What you posted didn't upset me, just saying why I was confused by the post.

Is there any reason why you can't just ignore the thread versus peeing all over it?

Quite annoying, really.
