I like trading back as well in theory, it just seems like we don't do it right. I could be wrong, but it never seems like we get enough value back. The Steven Jackson trade back fiasco still bothers me. We did get a first next year once, but it seems NE always gets more.

Go look at the NE trade in the second last year -- they got truly awful value (a 3rd and a 5th).

You're not lying. That is horrible value. It's not often that you see a mismatch like that in the modern era.
I suspect everyone that New England like anywhere in that vicinity was gone, so they took the best offer they could get.
Green Bay fleeced them in a big way.

Green Bay got freaking CB Casey Hayward with that pick...or one the steals of the entire draft.

Hayward is a shut down corner. In fact, opposing QBs had a rating of 31 vs him...or lowest in the entire NFL. A legit argument can be made that he is better than the player we gave up our 1st and second round picks for.
