1. How far would you trade up to get the player you want?
2. How far would you trade down to stockpile picks before you felt it was too far down to go?

This is exactly my thoughts on both options.SDogo;3837784 said:1. This is totally a value thing and what I think may not be what the Cowboys feel but looking at this years class I dont think I would pull the trigger unless the player I want drops to 5. Price will probably be to expensive before that.
2. Unless your dealing with the Patriots and getting both number 1 picks out of the deal I'm trying to stay in the top 20.
The draft board is fluid, this could all change in the coming weeks but as of right now with the players I would target those are the standards I would set for myself.

2. If we got value for moving down, I'd be happy trading down to the mid-20s. I think we could still get some good players there, including Carimi, F Taylor (even at the high 20s/very early 2nd), possibily Ingram, etc.
I'd guess JJ's preference would be to trade down slightly (maybe mid-teens) and try and pick up another 2nd or 3rd rounder, if possible.

As for trading down to stockpile, I would never do that. I only trade down if I don't think I'm getting value at my current position in the draft.
IMO, trading to with the purpose of stockpiling picks is an extremely dumb thing to do unless the talent level in the draft is so deep that it's worth doing and that is pretty much NEVER the case. (increasing the value you get by trading down) What I mean is, concentrated value, is far better than watered down value. (ie one player with a 1k value is infinitely better than two players with a 500 value)
Which is why i'd love to trade down and get alot of picks next year, teams will be more willing to part with next years 2nd and 3rd rounders while valuing this years picks higher.blindzebra;3838276 said:I don't want to trade up with this year's picks. With no CBA or FA possible before the draft picks will be too important.
I'd go up to 5 if they'd take a 2nd next year.

We are 6-10 with a first year head coach, I pray we can satisfy all those needs this offseason but it is doubtful, an extra 2nd and 3rd next year would help a ton in rebuilding the team. If you traded down from 9 to say 18, a 3rd this year, 2nd & 3rd next year. sounds good to me.blindzebra;3838291 said:That is fine if you don't have any glaring needs, but we do so we need those picks this year.
