Something I am curious about what decides when a team goes to camp? I noticed Cowboys go July 26th seems like one of the last teams to go. Also why do rookies and vets report on same day? I see some other teams have their rookies in 3 days early.

I always thought camp dates were set based on the teams first preseason game. And I don't remember rookies coming in early for camp; maybe youre thinking of OTA's

Dallas used to have the rookies report early, but stopped that quite a while ago.
I think it has more to do with the practice schedule layout. With the new CBA they can only so many practices, and after something like 4 practices they must have a day off. Maybe some teams have an extra day off or travel times allowed for PS games. So they report day and when they break camp are scheduled around that.

They used to report early a long time ago, I think they stopped that in the early 2000's, around when Parcells took over.

That's all the players really care about, less practice time. They don't focus on things like the commissioner having this absolute power over everyone. Less practice and a watered down product...that's what keeps the players happy.

the cowboys report to camp july 25 and their first practice is july 27th

Honestly since the new CBA i only worry about which players are going to get injured. Not even TC anymore. Not like the old days. They have to play about 3 games into the regular season before they are in shape and ready for full contact.
