Training camp guide

I'm attending this year. This is my first training camp. I was hoping we could make this thread for training camp tips and suggestions. Maybe things like how to save money, how to get a good spot or anything else that could come in handy for first timers.

At the Dome, a lot of folks will tie the things they want autographed (caps, balls, helmets) to a string and dangle it down from the stands as the players walk from the field and through the tunnel toward the locker room.

From what I've seen though, it's a gamble to get many autographs if you're seated up there. I don't know the specifics, but I'd recommend checking into the thing they do that allows you to get sideline passes. They run some program in the parking lot, I believe through the True Blue fan club, where you can pay to play a few contests (like those things where you spin a dial and you win on whatever it lands, I think). You can win sideline passes that way. And a lot of times, if you play enough times (ie. pay enough money) without winning, they'll just give you a pass out of pity lol.

Oh, and if you are sitting in the grand stands, get there way early.

Last year it seems they blocked off the railings so you couldn't dangle stuff over the edge like the first year I went, or on the first day anyway. There was a fenced in area on the field last year, probably where you want to be if you want autographs. Seems you had to be there to get anything.

Get there early to get a good seat. You may want to join the cowboys club or whatever it is...special line that gets in before the general audience. Carry water for the wait, last year was so hot waiting out in the sun.

Cameras...they checked everyone's bag in the member line, but let everyone in in the general admission line without checking, go figure.

Get you a True Blue membership. The heat in San Antonio can be brutal. If you have that membership they will let you in earlier than those that don't have it.

Pick a day where they are running two practices. Between practices, walk to the River Walk, eat some chow, then walk over to Dirty Nellies and drink you an overpriced Smithwicks.

Be sure and print out a roster sorted by number before you go.

Take your own sharpies. Plenty of them! haha

This. Always have something for autographs even if you aren't actively seeking them. I missed out on Troy Aikmans autograph because I didn't have a sharpieor anything for him to sign.

Go early
Expect to stand in line to get on the fence near the field (especially the part of the fence where they enter and leave)
If possible, go on a weekday, less crowded.
