Saw a video and they mentioned that all the guys that have been here under Quinn, know and remember doing things Quinn's way, especially the younger guys. With the guys we have, how easy/hard do you think the transition will be to adapt to a new defense, a new voice, and a different personality? Do you see any push back by certain players, do you think players will grasp it quickly?

The video mentioned and Zimm mentioned "knowing the language" and being able to communicate the way he does in his defense. Who on this team will take on that role, or would it be best having guys that played in his scheme to come in and help the players get adjusted??

If a player makes mistakes, they mentioned having that veteran presence in there would be helpful so that the veteran can go to the guys and tell them where to fix their mistakes. As we've heard Mike can be a tough guy. Please give your comments on this topic, thanks!!!!

Depends on who they can sign and draft. It's easy for us to say they will add beef along the DL. They don't usually put much resources into bigger linemen avd when they do they put 1on the ps who went on to start for wash and another they had drop 30lb so he can try to rush as a 3tech. What zimmer does with maxi will be huge for his career. They need help all along the DL so we will see what type of guys they bring in. That will determine what personnel takes the field.

Some beef is coming to Dline , that will help with the transition.I think Zimmer will improve this defense, pretty quick.
This will make the draft more interesting. I would say FA's as well. But we know that will not happen as to any top players available.

hopefully this year things change

First things first get some LB help who can actually disrupt someone like Aaron Jones from making a mockery of this team
yeah maybe we can tackle the running back before he gets to the line of scrimmage instead of when he's already past it!!

Jerry has commented more than once about acquiring defensive personnel that are bigger and more physical than what's currently available.

Let's see where that intention might take us, assuming something considerable would be done. It's anyone's guess if it will really materialize.

So maybe he actually listened to Zimmer during the interview. And it all made sense to him, for once.

I'd like nothing more than to believe it, heart and soul. It seems like forever since we've been seeing as much.

Bigger and more physical defensive personnel could quite possibly have an admirable effect upon our performance.

Shouldn’t be much adjustment. You’re switching from 43 under to a traditional 43 assuming Zimmer doesn’t stay in the under. Biggest difference will be the side the 3t lines up. The only possible issue I see is if Zimmer goes back to his traditional zone. We have draft and primary played man coverage for 3 years. If Zimmer tries to force the scheme you can expect ints to decline precipitously and the return of that trail technique everyone knows and loves!

For Zimmer to have any chance he will need to be the authority figure. In other words, you push back in a negative way then you need to find another team. No coddling. Then we can find out if his coaching is still relevant for today.

With the DT's how much of a difference does it make where they're lined up at, are they going to be told to hold up their guy so the LB's can do their job, or are they just trying to be quick and get up the field

In the under the 3tech lines up next to weakside end. Both tackles usually 2 gap. Zimmer as far as I can remember played the 3t (2 gap) on the strong side… same concept Marrinelli used, with the 1tech playing 1 gap. Zimmer was able to get scrub players like Brandon Noble and Willie Blade look serviceable shooting the gap between the center and gaurd forcing the double team!

I think in a perfect world, Zim wants to create as close to the 2000 Ravens D as humanly possible - 2 bullies at DT that can push the pocket and stop the inside run coupled with a legit MLB that cleans up everything inside (and out if possible). Then, DISCIPLINED SPEED, SPEED, SPEED on the edges. That logic STILL works today as it did years ago.

The run D will improve ( LOL, cant get any worse). He will bring in real LBs and the DL will have some responsibility in stopping run, Not just try pass rush.
