We let 4 guys go who by the way all have sucked except Heath who's in a more reserve role....Byron, Quinn and Maleik have all been bad. So am I to believe that if they were her in Nolan's defense they would've been better? Probably not.

It is though. They couldn't stop the run last year....they still can't stop the run this year. We let Quinn, Byron Jones, Heath and Collins go. You think these guys would allow us to stop the run better? Of course not.

- Cap hit 9.4mil of dead money, probably spread out over 2021, 2022
Keep him
- Cap hit 9.8mil for 2021
- Dead cap rollover of 6.8mil for 2022

Cap hit is *bigger* in 2021 if we keep him, *and* we're just throwing 7.2mil more down the Jaylon rathole.

The "cap hit" talks frustrate me. Most people treat the cap hit kicked down the road as if it doesn't exist. Unless we're totally screwed with the cap in a single year, taking the cap hit now vs. later is an accounting issue between contracts.

The question should be if a player is worth keeping for what *hasn't* been committed to him yet. We can avoid spending 7.2mil on Jaylon. The dead cap is dead.

As you can see, other than DLAW, we have a defense whose personnel ranges from JAG to "lucky to be in the NFL"..........most are near the very bottom of their position in the league. Can't win with this little talent regardless of scheme........or QB.

ranking 41st and being in the top half of the group ain't saying much. same with ranking 52...at least Dlaw is in the top 10...
