Travelling to Arlington for Thanksgiving game

Very cool! Hope you have a great trip. Some suggestions I have for planning:

• Staying in Arlington will cost you more than staying in Ft. Worth which is only about 15-20 min west of Arlington. The Arlington hotels next to AT&T typically charge a lot more. Downtown FW has some great hotels and restaurants.
• There are also some great VRBO/Air B&Bs in Ft Worth that are way cheaper than staying in Arlington and they are not that far from AT&T.
• I would strongly advise either taking an Uber ride to and from the game or being prepared to park a long way away. Parking near the stadium is crazy expensive and the traffic around there is insane on game days. Have an Uber driver drop you off a block or two away from the stadium then walk. Yes it will cost you but it will be about the same or less than parking fees.
• Some restaurants in Arlington and FW I recommend:
  • Pappadeaux’s Seafood- 1304 E. Copeland Rd, Arlington, 76011. If you like seafood, it’s one of the best around here.
    
  • Texas Live!- 1650 E. Randol Mill Rd. Arlington, 76011. This is actually a collection of restaurants and bars next to the Texas Rangers Ballpark and just a block or two east of ATT. Troy Aikman has a restaurant inside there and there are several cool places to eat or grab a beer. Highly recommend it!
  • Joe T Garcia’s- 2021N. Commerce, Ft. Worth. Mexican Food place that’s been there since the 1930s. You want to eat on the patio outside. Located in the historic old stockyards in N Ft Worth.

Just figuring out flights and hotel packages and maybe just doing flight and game tickets and VrbO would be the best option. Ive seen full trips including hotel air fare and tickets for like 1500 dollars.

Oh! If you're into video games, there's a video game museum in Frisco. It's really quite fun. It's called the "National Videogame Museum".

I just remembered, a former teacher and my favourite teacher took me to a restaurant after church while I visited during the con. I think it was Mia's Tex-Mex. It's very nice. It's just off of Lemmon Ave. So yes, that's a good place to eat if you're visiting Dallas.

I wanted to reach out here as I am planning a trip to Jerry's world for the Thanksgiving game against the giants. I wanted advice on if it makes more sense to get an all in one package that includes air fare, hotel and tickets. Or to get them all separately?

Also. IF you can suggest some fun things to do in Arlington that would be great. I am flying in from Toronto

You could stay at the Dallas Cowboys' official hotel - the Omni Frisco. I assume it is very expensive. Maybe you will run into a player or two.

Have fun!! I'm sorry, but I'm not really sure what to recommend. I suppose for hotels, if you're willing to stay in Dallas, there's an Embassy Suites, or at least I remember there being one, on the west side of Dallas. Ive stayed there a few times. There's a Red Lobster near the airport that's quite nice. There are plenty of Tex-Mex and BBQ places nearby as well. Hope this helps.

I have eaten at that Red Lobster quite a few times. It is about 5 minutes from where I live.
Quite a few good hotels near there and near me as well. And 6 1/2 miles right down the road from the stadium.

is that for pre season and TC there though?
I think the official hotel for regular season is the Gaylord in Grapevine. As that is much closer for game days than Frisco.

Frisco is about 40 minutes from me. I am 6 1/2 miles from the stadium, Gaylord’s is about 5 miles or so from me. I never checked the actual distance though.

Typically all inclusives are making their money by scrimping on something. Chances are they're putting you on the flights with two stops with 8 hour layovers or a one star hotel as they obviously can't screw you too much on game tickets. I would echo the call to rent a car. Unless you're only going to be in town for one night, go to the game, then fly home the next day Arlington in which case it doesn't matter. Also consider that Uber prices have jumped considerably since the gas prices have hiked up so you could literally rent a car for 2-3 days for the price of an Uber to and from the airport. I will say that I did the fly in Saturday night, go to game then catch the first thing smoking the night of the game or the next morning the first time I went to a game and it sucked. We won the game and I wanted to continue to celebrate and hang out with the group I had met up with but had to dash to the airport really without seeing much of the area at all.

After that I made it a point to always stay at least 4 days/3 nights.. Arrive day 1. Stadium tour or whatever ancillary activity on day 2 game on day 3 and fly home day 4. That enabled me to do a number of stadium tours (at both stadiums), visit the Stockyards in Fort Worth, see the Kennedy Assassination site, visit downtown Dallas etc. Of course now that I live in Fort Worth I don't really have to worry about any of that but I do remember the experience being much greater when I wasn't rushing around to/from the airport. Coming from as far as you are I would strongly encourage you to consider that as well.

Check out the Gaylord Texan for a hotel. I thought that was a cool experience in itself. I suppose it's not the team hotel any longer but they may still offer game transportation. Downtown Grapevine wasn't bad either.

Oh dry up. There's nothing wrong with a fan trying to have some fun watching his team live. It's always a fun experience being able to see the Cowboys live.
