You learn something new everyday, and sometimes what you learn can be hard to fathom. I had to do a double take when I learned of how much Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Tyron Smith can bench press. According to teammate and fellow lineman Travis Frederick, Smith can bench press between 600 and 700 pounds!

“He does crazy things in the weight room that I wish that I could do and I never will be able to do unfortunately,” Frederick said in a radio interview, per The Dallas Morning News. “It wouldn’t be unusual to see a small car.”

Man this guy is a physical freak of nature and I loved the pick from the word go. Now you know why you dont see him get bull rushed very often.

Isnt this in the L.A range??

If I remember correctly there is a grainy video of L.A benching that kind of weight... superhuman when you he dosent dedicate all his time to pushing that much weight

I think LA did 700 and probably could do 700 plus. Im doubting Tyron has done 700, i never heard weightlifters give a range, once they hit that high number, its only that number.

Larry Allen was probably best before he could bench 700. Once you get strong, it really doesn't matter that you get like 700 pounds strong. Frederick can't bench as much as Tyron, but he is probably a stronger run blocker.

Insert gif of Tyron literally throwing a defensive lineman through the air onto the ground.

Larry Allen had shorter arms and a bigger chest/belly, so it was quite a bit easier for him.

OK. I don't remember where I saw it... but I'll look.
Can watch this all day. Scares me a bit since he almost threw him into Tony.

Yeah, I love watching it. It is almost comical.

Never thought about him throwing a guy into Tony's knee... but now that you mention it, it could happen.

He's right. Watch a power lifter setup his bench position. They arch their back and immediately reduce the range of motion. Another thing is to take a wider grip, but your index finger has to be inside the knurling in all federations. From what I've seen, guys with lanky builds typically bench less than guys with a stocky build.

It's simple physics/common sense. There's less distance to move the weight.

I disagree with every sentence in this statement.

The idea that Frederick is a stronger or better run blocker than Tyron has nothing to do with strength and everything to do with position and build.
