Travis Frederick update?

Every illness for every person is not the same. Schlereth's illness has been reported to have been more advanced. That said, I seriously doubt he will come back this year. He won't even be available until late in the season anyway. The only chance is if the team makes the playoffs he recovers more quickly than expected and has time to get back in playing shape, but both of those things are very questionable.
I would say if we make the playoffs he might come back but that is the only possibility.

Schlereth's disease had progressed to the point that he was paralyzed before he got diagnosed. Frederick's case was caught far earlier and all indications are the early detection leads to a much quicker recovery.

Note: That is a summary of nearly everything written on this topic.
While true he has to overcome the disease and then rehab extensively to get his strength back in order to play. He hasn't even started the rehab.

We’ll find out in 5 weeks when he’s eligible to come off IR. If they don’t activate him right away then he’s likely done for the year.

They said they now have a timeline how long he’d need to get back to full strength. I heard something like it’s a little like Jaylons foot in how certain nerves have to start firing

I think HK is right about this. Mark S went through this. Looney is playing good, this FO has made mistakes by forcing players to come back early. I personally think its best to let it go this season. We re still out of it, thats not going to change. Let TF take care of business and see where hes at next season.
thanks fam

I'd be concerned if they tried to get him back in the lineup this season. This is a serious disease.
My friend's son had this about 15 years ago it damn near killed him he was in the hospital for almost 8 months had to relearn how to walk talk eat just about everything. Frederick will be lucky do not experience that part of the illness as it was caught early enough I would think his Focus would be being healthy at this point and I don't believe he's able to return until December but I don't see that happening this year if it all again

Although he says he is not giving up and he plans to be back that's what I've heard with no timetable

Glad to hear your son made it through. And hopefully still doing well.

As far as I am concerned, he is done. Any other expectation would be setting myself up for further disappointment.

So sad. Two years removed from having a potentially historic offensive line and Fredericks is fighting a terrible disease, Tyron has constant back issues and penalties, Collins has regressed, LG is occupied by a struggling rookie.......

In the NFL of today, success is so precarious, no team can win without at least a little good luck. For almost a decade now, it's as though the Cowboy's luck has been nothing but bad.

Fredrick has the best medical help in the world. He will come back from this. It just won't be until next year.

Looney is no Fredrick. But he hasn't been a disaster either. I have no problems with him finishing out the year.

It's likely he won't play this season, but it's certainly possible for him to return to full strength and resume his career. The issue with GBS is you're dealing in months, not weeks.

We should use next years 1st rd'er on the best center in the draft...oh wait...

Mark Schelereth keeps getting used in comparison, and rightfully so, but he was diagnosed in the mid 90s. I wonder if the medical treatment of the disorder has advanced since then? Either way I wouldn't expect to see him this season at all.

That man has no business anywhere near a football field right now
