I wonder if they'll look at Shaun Alexander now?
abersonc;2101755 said:They can't cut him for that without there being a grievance.
stasheroo;2101771 said:Seems to me that's something that the NFL doesn't enforce anymore.
Goodell's new campaign to fine teams for player behavior indicates to me that he's looking to root out the trouble-makers, not defend them.
I can't see anyone going after the Broncos for wrongly cutting him.
And even if they did, I'd love to see them prove it.
abersonc;2101791 said:That ain't the league -- it is the CBA.
stasheroo;2101793 said:So we can expect a grievence on behalf of Chris Henry for wrongful termination as well?
I guess they can try, but personally, I don't see them succeeding.
abersonc;2101801 said:Why? Chris Henry didn't fail a drug test
stasheroo;2101805 said:Do we know that Travis Henry did?
Sorry, but I think the Broncos can essentially give whatever reason they want for releasing Henry and it would be difficult for anyone to legally prove otherwise.
I think that in today's NFL, teams have the ability to dump players for any reason they see fit.
Not arguing the right or wrong of it, but more an observation of the current environment of the NFL.

abersonc;2101826 said:That was your speculation -- that he was cut b/c there was another failed drug test -- and I noted that if they cut him for that there would be a grievance filed as that would be a violation of the CBA. Which states you CANNOT dump players for any reason you see fit. You can't dump an injured player and the CBA takes the stance that a drug problem is like an injury - that is, it is something requires treatment to recover from.

Broncs cut him after questioning his commitment to his team.
Anybody you'd care to get rid of using this premis?
stasheroo;2101871 said:If that's the case, how were the Lions able to release RB Kevin Jones?
These things don't seem consistant to me.
abersonc;2101954 said:You can cut a player in the off-season following an injury. You have that window -- they couldn't however, have cut him immediately following that injury which is what you are suggesting. Jones was sufficiently healed to workout for several teams and was reported to have been very impressive.
