Would have been a Dallas Cowboy under the Jimmy Johnson regime. As Jimmy said about Haley, who I know had more issues than Kelse... "Is he smart? I can reason with him."

Kelse answered the question correctly for a football interview. Remember Jerry Dumbo GM Jones passed on Randy Moss who did not have a incident at Marshall for 2 1/2 years.
Kelce...
Again the issue was Travis did NOT want to go to Dallas.
No idea why brains can't gather he didn't want to play for his brothers' biggest enemy.

Saying Randy Moss had no issues at Marshall is like saying Johnny Manziel had no issues at TAMU.
The off-field persona was bigger than life but they kept them active and eligible.
Moss did not stop smoking weed at Marshall. He failed the test pre-draft.
Then he scored a 12 on the Wonderlic.
Would Johnson have drafted him? Maybe.

Randy was clearly insanely talented, but he fell to the 20s. Dallas drafted 8th.
He had issues in Minnesota but nothing too crazy and was obvious All Pro caliber.

But even Randy himself has admitted the spotlight in Dallas might have been too much for him.
He couldn't make it at FSU and Marshall at the time was backwater.
The Vikings became must watch TV but never had the glare the Cowboys do nationally until Moss was All-Pro.

Dallas took the only Pro Bowl DE of that draft's first round. The guy had 11 years in Dallas and 77 sacks.
He'll never be near a Hall of Famer but there are flat busts on that list between 8 and 21.
Greg is back working for the team and has never left the area.
Fans are forever goofy.

Dallas has proven very willing to take risks in R2 for raw talent.
That has bitten them plenty.
It is literally insane to cry about them not taking a risk at pick no one was willing to inside the first 20 picks.

I don't even think they were looking to replace him. He was going to be a lifer here. Makes it even dumber now especially knowing we did it with Bennett, Fasano and Escobar.
Bennett and Fasano they wanted for 2 TE sets as blockers with some red zone usage.
Escobar was clearly a split TE and he just lost the slot job to Cole Beasley.
Cole could win immediately at the line and Gavin could not. Gavin needed free releases.
Gavin could not play in-line so once he lost that job it was over for him.

Just to be clear I am not defending that Dallas FO overall, just on these 2 moves.
That Dallas FO was arguably the worst in the sport.
But as usual we complain about the wrong things.

What exactly was Moss going to do the bulk of his career with the league worst QB play we put out 2000-2005??

I don’t disagree with going tight end. Just stupid to invest a second in it. And still doing it smh.

Bennett was probably BAP but yea you want to pigeon-hole a guy into a specific, limited role and many hate you for it.
Dallas was one of the inventors of the 21-set stuff.
They loved that crap and Garrett still does.
Ironically, it punishes the DQ Dallas defense because want to play wide 9 up field rush only.
GB's 2 TE sets destroyed us.

But that 2nd TE has to be a guy with a specific mindset. Not a guy you take in the top 50 picks with Pro Bowls in his mind.
They could find those guys in round 4/5.

Schoon may end up great TBH, but with Jake on campus and shining it was a bad pick.

Ellis was absolutely the correct pick. If not for Jerry's shenanigans, he would've been an excellent piece to the puzzle for a rebuild. And it turns out he was just that when Jerry finally brought in a legit HC in Tuna. Ellis was a stud under Tuna.

So we took a 5th round TE in the 2nd instead. I care, I care a lot. Kelce has/had the get open skills that Esco did not. Esco was never going to be able to create separation and/or block. Very very bad player evaluation.

If he failed a pre-draft test. Randy Moss was no longer playing football at Marshall, he had declared for the draft. If Marshall was backwater, then it proves Randy Moss was a franchise player as Marshall suddenly became a division power house with Moss. Randy Moss has never been suspended for drugs in his NFL career so I guess the he did not really have a drug problem. Football requires the mental aptitude to memorize X, O, arrow directions, and yard stick measurements. It is not rocket science. Also Randy Moss had a scholarship to Notre Dame which means he had a high GPA, and ACT/SAT score, and graduated college with a degree.

Jimmy Johnson said he would have drafted Randy Moss. You go find the proof. I already posted it.

Saying that you would take Greg Ellis over Hall of Famer Randy Moss, who played for Bill Belichick posting one of the greatest seasons by a WR (Bill is friends with Jimmy, proof again Jimmy would have drafted Moss) in NFL History, and during the 1998 Draft numerous teams scouted him noting the work-out was jaw dropping, with one Cowboys scout naming Moss the "most gifted prospect in football history", proves you need to stay away from Jerry Dumbo GM Jones Kool Aid.

Jerry Dumbo GM Jones round 2 risk have been injured players and Dope head players that have never worked (name me the player that worked). You cannot draft unavailable (drug head) and unreliable (injured) players in the draft in premium rounds. It is why the Arlington Jonesboys have not been past a divisional playoff game since 1995.

Sure, but if they'd taken him, half the people here would have freaked out about Jerry trying to outsmart everyone else by taking a high risk guy.

His attitude seemed to be (from what he just said) congruent with their concerns.

Plus, tbf, Garrett would've ruined him anyway.
