I wouldn't put to weight on this until I hear his side. For all we know, the home could have had some repair issues they were fighting over. Who knows .......... landlord/tenant disputes are quite common.

Buy a nice, modest house. Buy it outright. Then watch it appreciate in value. In 10 years, in the right neighborhood, it will double in value, and you don't have a house note to pay for the rest of your life.

Then when you flip the house you have to buy another home, with an inflated price. Now, if you can time it, the bubble will burst.

So far these hefty appraisals have only served to cost me more in property taxes.
