I love Brooks but boy, Trey Benson is a better fit IMO. This kid is 6'1 221lbs.....for comparison. Zeke was 6'0 226lbs and DeMarco Murray was 6'0 220lbs. Remember Garrett saying the thing loved about Murray is he always falls forward. This kid fits the same mode as Zeke and Murray. If I'm Jerry, there is no way in hell I'm passing on this kid with 56.

Interesting Murray and Zeke have similar measurables.....I know Zeke runs lower but man I remember Demarco being so much bigger.

Walterfootball has us picking him in the 2nd round....

Dallas Cowboys: Trey Benson, RB, Florida State
Tony Pollard was a huge bust, so the Cowboys will be looking for a new running back.

Trey Benson is a tough downhill runner who showed off unexpected athleticism at the combine.

I don't think he will be there honestly. I think he goes top 45

You know, I actually wouldn't hate drafting Benson in the second. He would step in from day 1 and take a ton of reps for multiple seasons. If you compare that to our last 3 second rounders - Joseph, Sam Williams, Schoon - that is points way ahead vs them.

RB1 comfortably IMO.

Finding RBs that are 220 and run in the 4.3s is rare. I think he’ll be long gone by our 2nd round pick though.

I'm OK with Benson. Sounds like he's top notch as a runner but might need some work in blitz pickup and as a pass catcher.

No complaints about Benson.
However, I could see him going in the first 10-16 picks in the 2nd.

True but read a nugget that they are very high Isaiah Davis, South Dakota State. His measures are very similar to Benson but this led the CFB in rushing last season, 1578 yards, 6.7 ypc. My guess will def be there for our 3rd but not sure about the 5th since we don't have a 4th.

Benson is my #1 with the RB from Tennessee being #2.
Agree. To me its Benson, Wright then Davis. In that order. Brooks to me, is a reach and projection, given his injury. I'd be ecstatic with some combination that involves drafting Davis.

Just draft Benson AND Davis. Let the running backs all compete for carries in camp. We need to be a run heavy team. Thats Dallas football.

Zeke wishes he was as good as Demarco in 2014. Man what a wasted season that was. We lost a 3 way tie breaker to Seattle and Green Bay even though we beat Seattle in Seattle in the regular season.

Man........I still get ticked off every time I think about how we screwed up the 2014 and 2015 seasons. They intentionally ran the hell out of Murray and refused to pay him. He had over 450 touches 2014 season and led the league in rushing and all-purpose yards. Stephen low-balled him with an offer $5M range. Murray wanted $7M but was willing to take a discount but Stephen still refused. Even Romo, Garrett and Jason Witten voiced their support to get him signed but Stephen brought up some silly chart about RBs decline after X number of years. He and Jerry start pumping Joe Randell saying any RN can get 1000 yards behind our OLine.

Romo had his best career season 2014

Something many fans don't realize or remember is agents repping RBs around the league kept receipts. This treatment of Murray was the main reason Zeke refused to play his fourth year w/o a new deal.

Sorry for the rant but I honestly believe we would made it to the Super Bowl 2015 if we had resigned Murray. We were clicking on all cylinders at the end 2014 season.

Doesn't matter. There's a spotlight on the Cowboys with RB in round 2. Teams know that if they don't want to risk losing their player they have to get up ahead of Dallas.
