He's not even a year removed from 2nd ankle surgery...
That was just to remove supportive hardware in place to aid in recovery from surgery 1. He's been 100% healthy for a long time now.

He’s about on par with Prescott when it comes to running.
Dak did have a college season with over 900 yards. But w/the aging, and esp. after that surgery...Dak's not a runner anymore.

Lance isn't Fields or Daniel Jones as a runner, but he's maybe halfway between that and 2023 Dak.

Unless he’s the backup QB he can’t unless you make him active which means you have one guy less on game day roster. As the emergency QB he can’t just come in and run a play and go back out

Why not make Rush the emergency QB? He only comes in if Dak is hurt anyway. Meanwhile, we have Lance to add some creativity to the offense

Not necessarily a gadget, but they just need to dust off the 2016 offense.

If Rush is emergency QB he could only play if Dak AND Lance get hurt.

Not initially, but when he gets familiar with his teammates and this system, could Lance be the QB you insert quickly to throw the other team off by running RPOs and eventually drop backs when the other team gets worried about the RPO? This would make Rush the emergency QB who is inserted only if Dak goes down. What say you?
By week 8, he’ll be ready to lead.

Transition in 2024 at the latest.

Dak is gone after 2024. UFA.

I see you're too stubborn to let go of your bonehead idea. So good luck with that. I'm not arguing my point anymore. We'll see what we see.
Just keep it civil. There’s no reason to get upset and offensive every time we have a disagreement. That’s what leads to things going sideways between us. We have a differing opinion, let’s just leave it at that.

You might could do that after he learned the system but you need to see if he can be the backup first. He hasn’t played much football but so far he hasn’t played well enough to beat out rush as backup. They didn’t trade for Lance for what he is, but what he has the potential to be. If you develop him then he’s a steal even if he only can be a quality backup. But he’s very raw. He only played one season in college.

You must not be aware of the new rule about the 3rd QB on game day.
If Lance is on the 53 man roster, but not on the 48 man game day roster, the new ”3rd QB on game day” rule would allow Lance to enter the game only if Dallas’ QB1 and QB2 are both injured and unable to play or have been ejected from the game and unable to play. He may not enter the game under any other circumstance. Highly unlikely the Cowboys carry three quarterbacks on the 48 man game day roster. I doubt any other team will, as well.

I wouldn't do that. Just coach the guy up. Give him reps in practice and hope for the future. What can he do that Dak can't? Plus risking injury to him for a gadget play. That'll be a NO for me.
