Dudes, it was a joke!! No humor on a Saturday morning?? So much seriousness, lighten up!! You don't think I actually believe that comparison. smdh
Not analogous because in the NFL preseason games are like auditions for future employers. They are giving him the spotlight for a game for future employers. For the blue collar workers:
Boss: "We're sorry, but we're going to have to let you go. We've hired someone better to take your place, but they won't start until 2 days from now. Until then, I expect you to come into work and complete all your tasks before the new guy arrives."
Employee: "Sure thing Boss, no problem."
If you aren't giving Dak any snaps in the preseason then why give snaps to your backup in Rush if the roster is set? Let Grier run the offense for the other guys to get evaluated and if you like Grier then it's also a chance for him to showcase himself to picked up somewhere else.If we are just going to cut Grier then why are we wasting snaps on him this next preseason game? I know that Lance isn't ready, so those snaps should go to Rush to warm up for the season. We don't need to be a charity for Grier. If he's not in the future plans then it makes no sense to give him those snaps. I understand being nice guys, but this is a harsh business.
I believe she was joking.Grier absolutely said thank you. Are you kidding? He gets to play an entire game to show other teams what he can do. he either steps up and plays really well, and if he does, he will gt picked up. Or he sucks and then he doesnt get picked up. Either way though, it is 100% in his hands what happens. A young qb cant ask for much more.
Pretty sure you can protect certain amount of players on the practice squad from being plucked I don't remember if the rule changed back but you can protect a few players on the practice squad and brought up to the regular roster without it counting against your active game day roster meaning you can bring Trey Lance and he can sit as an emergency quarterback and be protected from being plucked off the roster so yes I'm pretty sure that's how it works although I can be off a little on the ruleSo we carry 3 QBs on the regular roster? I can't see Lance going to the PS.
He just got here...the paperwork hasnt driedNo audition for Lance?
Would be ridiculous in most jobs for average Joe, but the NFL isn't that kind of job. Grier is auditioning for his NFL life. For the blue collar workers:

He'd be crazy to "decide" that. This is likely the last audition he ever gets to make it in the NFL. He plays well, he might get a chance at a 3rd string or PS job somewhere else.I realize he's supposed to play the entire game but what if he decides to have an injury you know fake one or didn't wanna finish they better have Trey Lance fitted for a uniform and make him finish the game lol just go in there running running plays and Wildcat easy dink and dunk plays
You never know he could be upset wanna sabotage throw about 7 interceptions on purpose lol but I get it he should be using this game as an audition and he probably will play as well as he possibly can hey mate if he plays well enough what if he has a chance at a second string? He'd be crazy to "decide" that. This is likely the last audition he ever gets to make it in the NFL. He plays well, he might get a chance at a 3rd string or PS job somewhere else.
Thank you! I guess we're not allowed to joke in here. I know I'm no Joan Rivers, but geesh! LOLI believe she was joking.

Grier is auditioning for his next team. I have no doubt that he'll play hard ... probably harder than if he was assured of a spot on the Cowboys roster. For the blue collar workers:

I can find plenty of other quotes saying what I said as well. The NFL implemented a revised third quarterback rule for the 2023 NFL season in response to the 49ers sustaining injuries to both of their active quarterbacks in the NFC Championship Game.[4] The third quarterback can be placed on an inactive roster spot where he would not use a spot on the 53 player active roster. He may enter the game if the quarterbacks on the active roster are injured or disqualified.
The new rule would come with a couple of caveats, however.
- The quarterback in question can not be carried as a practice squad player and must instead make the initial 53-man roster (elevated players can not be used in this capacity).
- The team is required to notify officials no later than 90 minutes prior to kickoff of their inactives list, as usual, but may then designate one player as their emergency quarterback for that contest
if they count against the 53 then how is that any different than it has been the past 100 years?I can find plenty of other quotes saying what I said as well.
From dallascowboys.com:
Most importantly, the language of the rule itself suggest they count against the 53.
