Jerry looks at Dak Prescott and has buyers remorse. Can't say I blame him.

Well the team is the best it can be since a long time even with Dak's salary, but if it don't happen this year and they give him more, more, more money, well, hop skip and jump back down in the gutter if they extend him, which they will...so it's on him right now. Put up or shut up...or sell a bed.

It’s as obvious as can be. This was a message to the unknowing Dak. There is no comfort for you anymore. We wouldn’t resign your BFF and now this. It’s put up or shut season.

This is an out of character move from Jerry. He does not trade draft picks for guys he has no interest in playing. It’s just not the way Jerry has ever done business.

It won’t happen fast and maybe not this year at all, but the purpose of this trade is to put pressure on Dak.

Daks contract is coming up and Jerry trades for a young, raw, 1st rounder QB and that’s supposed to be a coincidence and depth move?

Jerry could’ve signed a veteran like Wentz, Flacco, or waited until cuts, or kept Grier if he was looking for a depth move.

He didn’t even give a heads up to Dak that he was doing this knowing a splash like this will make big news and allowed Dak to be blindsided instead.

The writing is on the wall and it couldn’t be anymore clear.
Listening to you talk football is like listening to my 5 year old grand daughter tell me how she’d run my business. THere’s now way she would understand why she’s wrong, and there’s no way she will listen seriously anyways.

I think he just has to show up.

Kid has all the talent he needs.

Plus, Jerry is tired of paying Dak mega millions for playoff losses.
100% get that but both guys have contracts coming up. What do you think Trey will want contract wise and what do you think he's worth? You don't think his agent will push for a max contract if he's gonna be the starter? let's say dak has a duplicate season as last year, same results etc. How good do you think Trey needs to play in the pre-season for The Cowboys to sit their very expensive starter for the real games? I don't think trey will be better than Dak and doubt he's ever a starter here.

Dak fans have to have personal attacks because they are hurting right now.

Yep, those dak lovers were hating every win ole Cooper Rush was putting up. Sad isn't it, Then they started down playing every win. "dak would have put up 100 points against them' Then they started crying about how bad the offensive line was. lmao.. You can't make this up, but the dak lovers can.

They’ve got plans for TL.

Jerry didn’t even call Dak when the trade was final.

No way Jerry pays Dak another 200 million.

That’s almost half a Billion in total salary.
Wayyyyyyyyyyyy
Jethro is going to extend Dak at least a couple more years at close to 50 mil per… maybe longer getting closer to that 200 mil

Dak has paid huge dividends to him as we continue maintaining relativity and interest driving the greatest revenue on the planet.

Few things as I see it, may have already been mentioned:

- Dak has missed a big chunk of games in each of the last few years. Rush is gone next year, Lance can hopefully be a good backup
- Dak carries a massive cap hit next season and could become the highest paid QB after this contract is up. If he brings in a ring to this franchise this year, he will get paid. If he falls on his sword like he has the last couple of seasons, next year could/should be his last one in Dallas

Unless he gets extended to a lengthy contract this season, the Cowboys will hold out hope Lance can somehow be rescued or they will be in the QB market

This is so reasonable I'm not sure it belongs on this board .

If the contract talks with Dak go sour, or he is just blah this year and not worth it, then it's unlikely we are seeing a top 5 pick anytime soon. This was a low risk high reward move that is rare around here -- we are so used to accepting high risk high reward 2nd rounders and other character flaw guys that we don't seem to know how to react to this one. Worst case he sits at #3 like Grier would have for a few seasons and best case he is a solid backup or he develops and we can trade him for a day 1 pick. I mean there is no downside to this and a lot of scenarios where we are glad we made the move.

Its not though. IF you want to pressure Dak you go trade for Matt Stafford or someone of that caliber. I guess maybe you can argue this is to put pressure on Cooper Rush? But even that's a stretch. There is zero chance Trey Lance is starting next year. I don't know if you guys don't realize how bad things are for him right now or what but the 49ers just chose Sam Darnold and Brock Purdy over a guy they just traded multiple 1st rounders for. Brandon Allen was in front of him on the depth chart.

This move has nothing to do with this year or next year. Its not a "leverage" move lol.
I think you're right but I think this might be the cowboys trying to have some foresight. We'd probably go into next years draft looking to get a developmental qb I think we just got one early. If the plan is to be patient with Lance like we should be then he should be paying dividends in 2-3 yrs. He's definitely not threatening anyone at this point but he's in a good situation. Dak is a good guy and will help him figure it out. Let's see if he can threaten Rush before we declare he's moving in on Daks job though.

It's a chess move (and not really that good of one) to get Dak to sign a team friendly deal..The cap hit next year is really unsustainable not to restructure or redo his deal. If Dak has a pro bowl level season, it is going to either cost the Joneses more or they'll have to let him play out his contract. If they cut him, the dead money would probably be insane.
He is not getting cut nor traded without a restructure.. again love Dak or hate him the one true fact is.. there will be an extension before the 2024 cap hit goes hard... thats a fact wether you like it or not.

It is Day 5 since the trade. Has Lance replaced Prescott as the starter yet?

Asking for a friend. He does not like Prescott as the starter and posts his discontentment on a huge Cowboys forum every day. I worry about his stress levels. They are not healthy.

Wait. Where am I?
