Always easier when you DON'T factor in the contract numbers.

How does close to 200M over 5 years and 100M or more guaranteed grab you?

Just as good as it did for Romo. If it was good enough for Romo, it should be good enough for Dak considering Dak has been as good, statistically, or better his first 4 years starting as Romo was.

Are you willing to lose such a statistically good QB? If you weren't with Romo, you shouldn't be with Dak.

Give dak 33-34 no more
Either get it done or tag and trade him( should've traded him during the season if that's the case) or let him walk.

Not quite the same as Romo...

Romo had been with the Cowboys for 10 seasons when he signed his 6 year, 108M contract extension with 55M guaranteed in 2013. A lot of fans didn't like that contract and they had a point after going 6-10, 8-8 and 8-8 in 3 consecutive seasons. 2013 was another 8-8 season and so the end results were no different with a happier Romo. I understand the market value part of it, but that contract didn't help the Cowboys go any farther or get past the divisional round of the playoffs. Maybe Jerry should consider the past more as a reference...but it's his money whatever.

You're forgetting Romo's first big contract in October of 2007, halfway through the 2007 season and barely a full year with Romo as a starting QB since the midway season point of 2006. It didn't hurt the team then. The problem with his second big contract in 2013 is that the whole Oline was decimated and in need of being fixed with better Olinemen, which it started to with the drafting of Tyron Smith, followed by Martin and Frederick. Big contracts for your stud QB can work if you draft well and smartly in each draft. The most important piece to any successful team is their QB, not their RB or some other player. That's where Jerry messed up recently.

I didn't forget, but that contract was signed during the season not offseason. Romo was having a great year in 2007 and his play was only getting better, and that team was headed for the playoffs like the year before with Parcells. Dak is coming off an 8-8 season with questions still regarding his mechanics and ball placement...not good. Dak's best year was in 2016 as a rookie when the team went 13-3 and he only threw 4 INT's. Can another rookie start in 2020 and lead the Cowboys to a season like 2016 with an easier schedule...no you say?...and why not? What did Dak do at Miss St. that a 1st, 2nd or even 3rd round QB in the 2020 draft can't do? If Dak was a once in a lifetime pick...lightning in a bottle type player or whatever...then where did this lightning go?

Does Jerry have to give Dak a 200M contract to bring this lightning back?

I'm just asking for a friend....

At this point weve seen Dak for 4 years and I have no faith that he can put together enough wins in the playoffs to make this team relevant. He is just too inconsistent. If Jerry wants to just have a face to the franchise than Dak is good representative. But if Jerry wants to make the team a true threat to win a SB he needs to build upon the team itself and not over pay one guy and lose key players.

You guys just say this because it sounds good but as of right now who are the Cowboys losing or value? If they lose anyone it’s because they wanted to lose them.

If you truly knew football and were able to understand what happened throughout the season, and why, you wouldn't be asking such ignorant questions, would you? Either this or you do know but enjoy acting ignorant? Which is it?

They are simply still butthurt because Dak dethroned their idol and forced him to watch Dak tear it up his rookie year while sitting on the bench and forced to retire afterwards.

You also have to factor in draft capital. If Burrow plays even close to Dak he would be asking for 50 million in 3 years. Plus Burrow is one year wonder. He was a 4th round pick coming into the season.

I was in favor of letting Romo go in 2013. Looking at the rise in the salary cap going forward, giving Dak 36 million a season at 115 million guaranteed is actually a bargain. It will get done.

You don't want to answer any of those questions because you already know those answers won't make Dak look good.
I understand...Dak is your hero.
