This past weekend, my dad and I took a road trip up to Asheville, NC. Since the Bucs had a bye week (I work for the Bucs in a non-football capacity), it was my chance to take some time off. We figured this time of year would be perfect to see some nice scenery up there.

Let me just say that (at least to visit) it was breathtaking. The vibrant colors of the changing leaves...the flame reds, bright yellows, and fall browns each had their own visual characteristics that set them apart from one another.

We ended up staying on the outskirts of Asheville off I-40. About a half hour or so from Chimney Rock and an hour from Grandfather Mountain. Unfortunately, I just found out from staff here about the Biltmore (sp?) Castle/Hotel. Apparently, it's right up the street, but we had no idea about it.

After visiting Chimney Rock, we traveled the Blue Ridge Parkway to Grandfather Mountain. My WRX STi never had so much fun on the twistie, inclining, and declining roads. That was tons of fun and I really wish I could have spent more time on the Parkway itself. Next year, I'd like to travel on it with no real plans...maybe take it all the way to Tennessee.

Below are some photos from the trip. I have more if you're interested. Just thought I'd share it with my fellow Cowboys fans.

BTW, I found a Hooters in Asheville...so I was able to catch that wonderful NYG game...joy.

Great pics. That part of the country is beautiful anytime but during the fall it can be very stunning.

Ha. 'Blowing Rock'. Best high school field trip ever. Good times. :)

I wish I had known you were heading there. I used to live in Asheville. I could have told you a couple more cool places.

You really should see the Biltmore House.

Yup, this is a beautiful neck of the woods when the leaves are at their peak... and all I have to do is open my curtains and look across the street to enjoy it!!!
