Apparently, Benjamin weighed 265 when they signed him in May, and Judge told him to come to camp at 251… and then Benjamin showed up on the first day of camp at 268.

Then, the dude is surprised when he gets cut, lol. He said he passed the conditioning test, so he didn’t know what the problem was.

The problem was Benjamin.

Benjamin weighed 265 pounds at the end of minicamp in June and was told by Giants staff that he needed to get down to 251 pounds for training camp. Instead, he showed up weighing 268 after putting on some muscle, Benjamin said.



But Benjamin passed the Giants’ conditioning test Tuesday, he said. The test for a tight end consists of the player completing 20 50-yard dashes in under seven seconds. Benjamin said he completed those tests and didn’t hear anything about the Giants being unhappy with his weight.

Anyone who has ever managed people understand you have to fire someone when they outright refuse to follow a clear directive.

If Benjamin did not respect Judge enough to follow his order to lose weight, how could Judge trust him to follow any order period?

This is 100% on Benjamin. Understand the chain of command and follow instructions.
