Fans need to wear the bags over their heads to the home games. Thanks for posting this. This was the beginning of the end. Jimmy was the culture because he created it.
Jerry thought 500 guys could coach the Cowboys to a SB. He was wrong then and 28 years later he is still wrong.
It’s his ego which is preventing this organization from success. The only way for it to change is to have fans not show up. We need the Saints behavior of the 80’s
I like Bradshaw as a tv personality but it ain’t close on the football field. Aikman.Terry Bradshaw or Troy Aikman?
For those who may believe that a quarterback's stats tell the whole story of their value:
.
This is leadership.
Adolph Hitler or Abraham Lincoln?Terry Bradshaw or Troy Aikman?
They owe me money.Pretty sure "501" was a newspaper headline after one of our losses.
If Jerry was smart, he used Jimmy’s draft board. I am sure he relabeled it “Jerry’s draft board “ and took all of the credit.Allen was discovered by a scout that Jimmy Johnson had worked with for years before he came to the Cowboys. You can bet the house that Jimmy knew all about Allen and had planned to draft him all along. I wouldn't even doubt that Jerry used Jimmy's draft board that year.
One of Aikman's best seasons was 1998 at the age of 32 when he no longer had Novacek, Harper, Stepnoski, and Tuinei. Three out of four were Pro Bowlers. His productivity declined at the same time the team's talent level declined, the guys that replace those four were mostly busts like David Lafleur and Clay Shiver or non-productive free agents like Billy Davis and Jeff Ogden. We all know Troy Aikman had a stretch of 5 seasons of great QB play especially in the playoffs. Problem being, when he lost a couple all-pros on that team, his play fell off a cliff. 5 years of garbage play and 5 years of quality play. That was the story of Troy Aikman. He blames the coaches and Jerry, I think he was also part of the problem.
He played in 11 games that season (shocker he was injured) and stunk it up in the playoffs having a whopping 37.0 QB rating. One of Aikman's best seasons was 1998 at the age of 32 when he no longer had Novacek, Harper, Stepnoski, and Tuinei. He lost Irvin, Johnston and Newton in 1999, all three All-Pros. Their replacements were not exactly household names.
By the time Troy Aikman retired in 2000, Emmitt was the only offensive player that had shared three Super Bowl championships with him.
Aikman was never part of the problem, that offense was systematically destroyed by Jerry Jones's failure as a GM to adapt to free agency as well as being a putrid talent evaluator.
Aikman already became a legend with a playoff record of 10 wins 1 loss; 21 TDs 8 INTs; passing rating of 106.8; and 3 SBs and 1 SB MVP from 1992-1995.He played in 11 games that season (shocker he was injured) and stunk it up in the playoffs having a whopping 37.0 QB rating.
I expect a QB to have that happen gradually, not for his play to fall off a cliff. His accuracy was the worst drop off. The last 4 seasons of his career he was completing less than 60% of his passes.Aikman already became a legend with a playoff record of 10 wins 1 loss; 21 TDs 8 INTs; passing rating of 106.8; and 3 SBs and 1 SB MVP from 1992-1995.
Do you expect a player’s performance to drop as they age and get close to retirement?
Imagine if the Cowboys win 10 of their next 11 playoff games. That will be 2-3 SB victories.
Jerry, 500 12 year olds could run the Cowboys better than youGreat, starting the day off sobbing in my cheerios
Did you watch the video posted on the thread?I expect a QB to have that happen gradually, not for his play to fall off a cliff. His accuracy was the worst drop off. The last 4 seasons of his career he was completing less than 60% of his passes.
