I'm guessing since Troy seems to be viewed as the enemy by a lot of people nowadays, this is probably a bad thing.

Well, I like him a lot. I’m familiar with Brian, of course, we go back a little bit, back when he was coaching for his father. He was on the staff with the Chargers, with Hudson Houck. And I had some conversations with him, many years ago, about some offensive philosophy and things of that nature. And, you know, he goes to Seattle. He was the offensive coordinator there. I thought a lot of him when he was with the Seahawks. And then, of course, with Dallas, his role has been a little bit different.

But I like him a lot. Heck of a guy. Been around coaching, of course, his entire life, with his father, Marty. And beyond that, I don’t know that a lot of people know a lot about him. In the last couple of days is when I heard his name being mentioned. That’s probably like most people, and he’s kind of emerged as the dark horse.

Shotty seems like a nice guy, but we really needed a major shake up like Belichick.
Someone who would stand up to Jerry and set a different cultural standard of discipline.

Your statement pretty much explains why Jerry will never hire the type of coach we need. It’s been an issue since Parcells. Like him or not, McCarthy was the closest thing to what you are looking for since Parcells and he left because Jerry wouldn’t agree to let him have the freedom that a quality head coach needs to succeed. Until that changes, the Cowboys will never have a top tier coach or the organizational structure that supports a championship team. But hey, at least we make billions of dollars…..

With idiot Jones. No coach not named a young Jimmy or Tuna is coming in here putting the dunce of the league in a corner. That being said Schotty was the best-case scenario available. As I've said. The offense with Dak will put up enough points to win or stay in 80 percent or more games. We just need the defense to hold the fort down to 20 or less game. if they can't do this we're in trouble regardless whose head coach.

I can't say this will not work out for the Cowboys but kind of blown away by so many acting as if he has no chances of success. Give the man a chance. He is a 1st time HC? and that has been the case of several current HC. Sean McVay, was never a HC until the Rams made him HC, Demeco Ryan never held a HC job until Houston, who did Dan Campbell Coach for as HC? Again I have no way of knowing how this will turn out and neither does anyone else.

Well it’s all relevant. When you are dealing w a job that isn’t coveted, the bar of said candidate is relevant to the demand of the position.

Does, "Well, I like him a lot" really count as an ENDORSEMENT?
I mean, I like Jason Witten a lot, and Salma Hayek for that matter, but I'm not endorsing either for Cowboys HC.
LOL. I loved Witten. How could you not. Tough as nails. Remember when he lacerated his spleen in that game?
But I got to disagree with you with Salma Hayek - she can be coach or anything else she wants to be as far as I'm concerned, lol. God, I remember seeing her for the first time in Robert Rodriguez's Desperado. GOOD GOD, thats a drop dead gorgeous woman. Surprised my eyes didn't pop right out of my head like in the old cartoons, lol. Still have that DVD.
