I'm guessing since Troy seems to be viewed as the enemy by a lot of people nowadays, this is probably a bad thing.

Well, I like him a lot. I’m familiar with Brian, of course, we go back a little bit, back when he was coaching for his father. He was on the staff with the Chargers, with Hudson Houck. And I had some conversations with him, many years ago, about some offensive philosophy and things of that nature. And, you know, he goes to Seattle. He was the offensive coordinator there. I thought a lot of him when he was with the Seahawks. And then, of course, with Dallas, his role has been a little bit different.

But I like him a lot. Heck of a guy. Been around coaching, of course, his entire life, with his father, Marty. And beyond that, I don’t know that a lot of people know a lot about him. In the last couple of days is when I heard his name being mentioned. That’s probably like most people, and he’s kind of emerged as the dark horse.
Thats not an "endorsement". He's just saying he likes the guy. Nowhere is he saying this is the best hire for the Dallas Cowboys.

Don't try to hop on the Schotty wagon now when it's clear he's awesome. You know what you said days ago. Keep that same energy.

Shotty seems like a nice guy, but we really needed a major shake up like Belichick.
Someone who would stand up to Jerry and set a different cultural standard of discipline.
I don’t know who would have been worse for me, Belichek or Brian. But at least I know I would of hated Bellingham here so there’s that

By all accounts, he’s a good dude. Still doesn’t mean he’s an NFL head coach.

I'm not sure I see this as Troy endorsing him. It's not like he's saying he should be the coach. He's just saying he likes him as a coach.

LOL. I loved Witten. How could you not. Tough as nails. Remember when he lacerated his spleen in that game?
But I got to disagree with you with Salma Hayek - she can be coach or anything else she wants to be as far as I'm concerned, lol. God, I remember seeing her for the first time in Robert Rodriguez's Desperado. GOOD GOD, thats a drop dead gorgeous woman. Surprised my eyes didn't pop right out of my head like in the old cartoons, lol. Still have that DVD.
Salma is a baddie she’s always been a baddie. She can be whatever the heck she wants and I’ll just say ok.

Does, "Well, I like him a lot" really count as an ENDORSEMENT?
I mean, I like Jason Witten a lot, and Salma Hayek for that matter, but I'm not endorsing either for Cowboys HC.
I see several of you noted the fact that it was not an endorsement before I did. I think it was a very safe answer by Troy. He has no reason to bad-mouth the selection, but he also has no reason to stand on a table and say, "That's our guy!"

Agree on all of this.
"But I like him a lot. Heck of a guy." I don't recall anyone saying that about Jimmy Johnson 35 yrs ago. Sorry, it's not a qualifier.

Shotty might make sense of they brought in a better OC to run the offense.

I know reading comprehension is a struggle in this country, but liking someone and hoping he does well isn’t the same as endorsing someone.
Hey, I just posted the actual title of the article. And the other article that goes deeper into the interview is behind a paywall.
