Troy Aikman: "The Cowboys need to FINISH better"

As for me I'd say one of our bigger needs is for out Special teams to be MUCH improved, all around, this year in order to help us out a great deal.

People give our defense a bunch of crap for giving up the go ahead score, and yes it is on their shoulders to an extent, they were only being asked to stop the Giants from scoring while they started at what, like our 35-39 yard line? If our Special Teams didn't allow that useless sack RW to race a punt back 25 yards and deep into our end of the field maybe the defense wouldn't have had to start out with their backs against the wall.

Again there is no one person, or unit, that can be blamed, or blamed more than any other, for the loss. Every unit had a hand in the loss and it all seemed to come at very bad times. Rather it was the drop by Crayton, the drop by Fasano, the miss fire the next play by Romo, or the missed tackles on the opening Giants drive, or the poor coverage right before the half, or the bad punt coverage late in the game.

They were all horrible for us and all came at horrible times.

Funny cause I thought they looked pretty dominate against the Bears, Rams, and in the first Eagles game and they weren't exactly horrible against the Panthers.

Okay, so that's 3 or 4 (let's say 4) games where you considered the defense ot be dominant. In a 16 game season 4 games is 25%. That's the best we can say of this defense? If a defense wants to be "DOMINANT" it must "CONTROL" the majority of its games (i.e. well over 50%). The Cowboys defense last year did not do that and hence cannot be considered dominant. The offense on the other hand was much more consistent in its dominance and set club records, some that were off the charts. So yes, you have to agree with Aikmna, that if this team is going to improve it must "finish" games, and that responsibility falls much more-so on the defense. That does not let the offense off the hook completely, but the presuure does fall more o the defense to step up more than the offense.

i think the fry cook at dennys is saying the same thing. not sure why this is news.

Our offense broke down in the playoff game and that's all there is to it. With MBIII running for over 100 yards in the first half and the Giants rightfully addressing that in the second half, we should have passed all over that secondary, especially considering the walking wounded they were dealing with.

I will never understand how we didn't ring up at least 21 points and 200 yards passing in that second half. Inexcusable.

I do as well. Letting the Giants score a TD in 46 seconds before halftime I think was a big momentum boost heading into the locker room.
