I agree with Troy. I see the Eagles and Giants battling for the division crown. IMHO, the 'Skins and Dallas will be fighting for third place.

Edit: If Dallas has a playoff season or wins the division I would be the 1st to admit I was wrong about this teams chances.

Anyone who predicts the NFCE right now with any success is simply lucky because injuries will determine the outcome of the season. No one is dominant or deep enough to overcome injuries to the wrong players. Even after our string of swoons in December, I still think injuries are the determining factor. I don't like the Cowboys depth in spots and the other NFCE teams lack depth in spots as well. We'll see but no predictions from me.

You definitely won't get over 8 wins and I am a realist about our team. 9-7 is what I see thus far.

How the hell do you see 9-7???

This will be an interesting year.

I'm not sure how good the division will be.

Most say that the Giants will be better.

Most say that the Eagles will be better.

Most say the Commanders will be better.

Most say we've regressed.

But you never know. Every year teams are written off. The Eagles were written off last year. The year the Giants won the SB, they weren't that highly thought of.

All teams have holes....the Giants have questions at WR that really haven't been answered. The Eagles have to replace a DC and the QB of their defense. The Commanders have major issues at QB.

Us? How to replace a dynamic WR.

To me, it's simple.....If we stay healthy (relatively), then we're as talented as any team in the NFL.

How the hell do you see whatever rose colored record you see? We haven't significantly upgraded or changed anything. It still all starts with coaching and last time I checked the degenerates were still running the camp. Please explain anything loftier than 9-7.

I think most are looking at it from a pure talent standpoint.

We have it.....at nearly every position.

But that, as you said, isn't really the issue.

We've had talent for the last 12 plus years. One could even argue we've been really loaded the past 5 years or so. I hate to keep harping on things or being a debbie downer but the coaching is a major contributor to our troubles. I'm really looking forward to this season with hopes that somehow red will get it and begin to expand his depth of game calling knowledge. Talent hasn't really been the question IMO.

I think we're going to have a new appreciation for "Red" after this season.

I think the problem we have stems from the Head man. He's been in the NFL for a long time, but has as many playoff wins as the Cowboys the last twelve years.

I'm right there with ya "hoping". I'm just not guaranteeing a Super Bowl like I might have done in year's past. Why some have issues with that... I will never know. One step at a time...

Too true...nice post.

A playoff win is going to be tough to get. Right now, we're dealing with a monkey on our back. The players will go into Dec. worrying about not making the playoffs...or not winning a playoff game.

Soon, the monkey will be a gorilla (if it isn't all ready).

I think fans are feeling that way too. I was as excited as anyone last year. I really thought we would win it all.

I was really crushed...and to make matters worse, Philly (a team with lousy fans) almost made it.

I'm hopeful this year. But it's cautious optimism. I've had my heart broken by this team too many times the last five years. And I say five because we really had no shot for several years and any win was cause for celebration.

So how do you rank the top 3?
funny.
I'd go Irvin, Emmit and then Troy.

I see 12-4 and I hardly call that rose colored. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I just figure that with us members here that read all this Cowboy information and know more about the team than most media members, that a 9-7 seems pretty low.

And just because we didn't bring any big names in doesnt mean we didnt upgrade. Players improve, especially a rookie draft class that is one of the best that we've had in 15 years.

Sensabaugh allows us to do much more on defense, and in our pressure defense that can reap huge benefits. I would say we improved there if Spencer can do his job.

Also, not trying to force balls down the field for big plays, and instead utilizing our unique talent set on offense to be more efficient is going to be an upgrade IMO. Romo might not pass for 4000-some yards and 36 TD's like he did in 07, but I bet he has a better completion percentage, QB rating, and less picks/fumbles.

It's right before the season so the optimism is high, but I think it is optimism that can be justified.

So the 9-6-1 Eagles who lost Dawkins and Johnson are suddenly this juggarnaut that is going to run over every one in the East? I dont see it.

The Giants have as many questions as we do, their WRs havent done much in camp and they were 3-3 the last 6 games of last year.

In my opinion the East is wide open, any of the teams are capable of getting on a roll and winning it. Obviously the Commanders are a longer shot, because JC is by far the weakest QB in the division.
