Troy story

Yep. Played big when it mattered most. Tough and will to win. Pisses me off when idiots around here try to lessen his accomplishments. Three time champ and Cowboy royalty.
I couldn't agree more.

Actually that's not what happened at all. Barry did change the offense and threw it much more with Troy. It was only after Jerome Brown broke his leg and they had to go to backup option QB Hollieway that they went back to the full time bone and won the national championship. When that happened, Troy wanted out and Barry helped him find a good place to transfer.

For those who haven't seen it, there's a new good long interview with Barry on DC.com. He says all kinds of great things about Troy, even how when pro scouts were talking about this young Jeff George kid was going to be so amazing and Barry told them, I have a sophomore kid better than him.

Edit, here it is:

That's the way to correct someone, thanks for that info.

Not to mention the receivers he was throwing to: are you serious? He had one - the Playmaker - and an above average TE in Novachek. That's it. Alvin Harper amassed a whopping total of about 2,500 yards and 18 TDs in the five seasons he played for the Cowboys. K-mart had about 3,100 yards and 9 TDs (receiving) over seven seasons. Let's stop pretending that, in addition to Irvin, he had Jamaar Chase and Justin Jefferson. More like Michael Gallup and Cedric Wilson.
Michael Gallup and Cedric Wilson were Alvin Harper? Moose,Emmitt, Harper, Irvin, Novacek and that offensive line was what? Not good enough to win?

You don't know crap about any of this....just keep asking Google. Lol
I was watching it as a fan just like you. We are close in age. I know just as much about is as you do. Probably more because it doesn't sound like you were even paying attention.

Dude, you were a high school football coach, allegedly. You know more about coaching football to kids then I do, but that's where your expertise ends.

Get over yourself.

It is interesting that you read the situation that way. Some would say there may be some projection going on there. Just because you would have carried a grudge and acted-out passive aggressively in a similar situation doesn't mean everyone would.

Actually, I didn't see it...or notice it. One of his former teammates told me about it. He loved Troy, just didn't like that...he wasn't on the team when that happened, he had already retired and was actually in the HOF by then. And not that I care what your ignorant behind thinks, I was a lot more than "just a HS"...now, go ride your scooter down the aisles at Walmart and chill out

Darren telling how it was with Troy

I was at training camp and saw Aikman go off on WR Kevin Williams.

Aikman goes out and points to the spot where he expected Williams to cut and point to where Williams had actually cut. The difference was less than 1 yard...probably about 1 foot.

Aikman would never have played with a WR like Dez Bryant who was usually multiple yards off on his cut or didn't even run the correct route most of the time.

Yeah, much more talent. And a HOF coach. That is a lot to deal w/, no doubt.
you name me all the cokeheads on this team? you name me all the guys who dont follow the rules, than you take those same players and add their diva factor to it. As much talent as you acquire , makes the circus tent bigger. Yes, thats a lot to deal with. you dont have to, you arent in that position. you take every TO Romo had to deal with vs very Irvin Troy had to deal with. You ask the question, did TO party as hard as Irvin

Here is a tidbit to show Troy's intense competitiveness: he won an Oklahoma High School State Championship in TYPING.

Coke ain’t never made someone worse lol.

There's some serious people not knowing what they're watching if you were to insert a prime Troy into the 2016 o line and the next couple of years as well, with prime Zeke, and thinking the playoff outcomes are still the same.

When your only point of Dallas Cowboys quarterbacking reference is Dak and Romo because of your age, I guess I can't hold it too much against you.

But the whole Dak or Romo being in Troy's talent neighborhood is funny and erases all credibility trust me.

It's an age thing.
Hopefully.

Troy was the ultimate leader. And he was so miserable when Barry Switzer was the coach because he had to be the quarterback AND the guy that had to chew out slacking teammates.

Number 8 had no interest in appealing to anyone that was not as committed to winning as he was.
One of the all time greats.

Ryan Clark is a good reporter and I would assume a good person, but you can tell he carries hate and bias towards certain teams. This probably stems from his playing days. As a professional in his field that is a lousy quality to have.

I am sure Troy Aikman carries Eagles resentment, but it never shows when he calls a game. That's the difference.

He was a part of the puzzle that made a championship. But some people talk about him like he was the whole puzzle….meanwhile Romo and Dak didn’t play with half of the hall of famers he did but get held to his standard. It’s crazy.
I've watched Dak and Romo suck in the playoffs....Troy,, not so much. I watched #12 too...He was better than all three!
