This was funny when it was posted in early November, now, not so much.

As soon as I saw that Dez had one, I thought 'you have got to be kidding.' It was probably the low point of my career when this particular player — Oronde Gadsden — he had a pet monkey and, at that time, the locker room was just in complete disarray. We had people coming and going, we had people who were getting suits made inside the locker room. We had tailors coming, you name it, it was happening.

And then Oronde shows up with this pet monkey. What's the monkey gonna be doing while we're trying to practice, we're going to meetings? Who's watching the monkey for crying out loud? And I'm not sure anybody was. But he would bring this monkey and he put a diaper on it so we wouldn't have to worry about, you know.

It was insanity. When I saw that Dez got a monkey, I thought — first of all, why would you want a monkey? And then second I thought, surely (Cowboys coach and former QB) Jason Garrett remembers the days of Oronde Gadsden and the monkey.

You go back and say, 'are they close, are they not close after losing the last five games?' If the monkey's occupying space in the locker room, they're a long ways away.

The point Troy was trying to make, is that once a guy buys a pet monkey, his wheels have fallen off. You can see with Dez Bryant that his head wasn't in the game. He had a lot of drops and mental mistakes, even if you give him a pass for his injuries. Something is rotten there.

Choice of pet animal has little to do with players performance. Dez wasn't healthy (still isn't) and his confidence was thrown off. He didn't report to camp in good shape and also missed a bunch of practices with his foot. He never got into sinc. Add the fact that he had four different QB's and I think we can come up with more factors than a pet monkey to explain his performance.

I get it. What you are saying is that we've got to change things around here. Your saying that the leaders on the team have to take control of the locker room. The leaders (if any) know more about what the team needs to fix this thing more than anybody else. So what they have to do is to alter the experiment. And what that comes down to is who is gonna control this thing from here on out.

I get the premise of your post but I think it's the consensus here that something has always been off with Dez. He's a physical football genius and as the case with many who have a real area of geniuses, there's something off with them. I think Dez is too passionate about football for his wheels to have fallen off. Although I think having a monkey is pretty stupid, who know's how I'd feel if over night I was worth a few dozen million bucks! He lost his starting, elite quarterback, got hurt himself and came back to practice squad QBs. You could have Dez, Julio Jones and Antonio Brown in a trip line up and it wouldn't mean much with no one to throw them the ball. I'm actually impressed Dez kept his composure as much as he did - maybe the monkey helped comfort him.

Dez is not too passionate. I giggled when I read that. Dez is too immature and I don't think he understands the game. Dez has to rise to every word that a DB throws at him. He can't just make a catch and run back to the huddle. He makes a catch and dances around...in fact, I saw TWill do that yesterday and I said to myself, "dude, you're in last place and you made 7 yard catch. You didn't win the SB with that catch."

I am so over Dez. The freakish talent that he brings isn't out-weighing the garbage that is following him. We do not have strong leadership here to guide Dez so we'd be better off with guys that have less talent (and baggage).

Dez is simply in the same boat Murray is in. They got paid so their main motivation is gone. Both were playing last season with one thing in mind, money. That's it, end of story. Neither has the desire to be great, I don't care what they say. They had a desire to sign a large contract and that was it. I don't want to hear about injuries. An injured foot doesn't make you drop pass after pass that's right in your hands when you've been a top notch WR since you were 10 years old. It's lack of focus and desire that does that.
