True or False on this statement........

I think that number's a bit high, but not as low as you'd like to believe. I'd wager 10% - 20% (during the offseason that is).

GM to me: "My estimate is 30 to 40 percent of players in this draft class use marijuana regularly. That's right in line with our league."

I find that hard to believeo_O

I can believe it.

What I can't believe is that somehow in this one country it can be legal in one part of it and illegal somewhere else.

That, to me, is a bigger concern.

True-ish. I thik it's on the lower end of that percentage (30-35max), but I think it's often more for pain management than just wanting to get high. If players can drink and use tobacco, I have no problem with it if its legal in their state.

If it screws up their playing ability, they wont' be playing, plain and simple.

I think that number would be true if it were who has used before but to say regularly I would disagree.

Question I have is......If that percentage is true....then why aren't more players being suspended? or caught?

which is why I think it would be safe to say that high percentage would likely be has used before but when you say regularly I think we would see a lot more players getting popped.

I don't find it hard at all to believe that on a team of 53 players in age ranges between 20-35 that at least 15 of them smoke on a semi-regular basis.

Oh no doubt.

Marijuana is so prevalent on college campuses these days. A good friend of mine played DT at an ACC school back in 2008 - I watched 2 current NFL players and one more who had a cup of tea in the league smoking a blunt, then the lowly kicker/punter came in the room and said - let me hit that ****.

It's a part of the college culture now, hell it's a part of the American culture - I'd venture to say that 30 to 40 percent of all 20-24 year old males smoke weed regularly.

In an era where guys are murdering and wife beating a little bit of weed is the least of my PR worries.

First and/or second time offenders are seldom publicized. Usually they have to go through counseling or something. I would think a decent percentage of those decide it isn't worth the hassle and just let it go.

This information comes from an article I had read years ago so no link to be provided/take it for what it is, but not all MJ/drug tests are surprises, like PEDs. So if players know they have (x) time before said test they can either stop using or cleanse or whatever it is they do. That would mean the ones who continue to fail simple do not care enough to stop.

Marijuana use is widespread among adolescents and young adults. According to the Monitoring the Future survey—an annual survey of drug use and attitudes among the Nation’s middle and high school students—most measures of marijuana use by 8th-, 10th-, and 12th-graders have held steady in the past few years following several years of increase in the previous decade. Teens’ perceptions of the risks of marijuana use have steadily declined over the past decade, possibly related to increasing public debate about legalizing or loosening restrictions on marijuana for medicinal and recreational use. In 2014, 11.7 percent of 8th-graders reported marijuana use in the past year and 6.5 percent were current users. Among 10th-graders, 27.3 percent had used marijuana in the past year and 16.6 percent were current users. Rates of use among 12th-graders were higher still: 35.1 percent had used marijuana during the year prior to the survey and 21.2 percent were current users; 5.8 percent said they used marijuana daily or near-daily.

The general manager (which I hope is an actual source) refers to college students and professional athletes.

Believe it.

The hardest part to understand is how on earth that many of them avoid testing positive.

I suppose it is easier than I think considering they know almost a year out to the day when they will need to submit a clean sample and only the dumb ones lose track of time.
