Trust the Draft Mock

Scenario:

1st Round: IF Javon Kinlaw is there at 17 you take him and do not think twice.

2nd Round: Antoine Winfield Jr. is a true playmaker at safety that Dallas has been missing, he's a ballhawk and he can lay the wood (pause).

Thoughts?

Id like to address safety in Free Agency..

NFL safeties are all similar.. Very few noticeable difference makers in the NFL playing that position.

If something pops up in the draft then by all means select the guy but I’d rather draft difference makers with my early picks.

I hate that we didn’t try to go get Minkah Fitzpatrick. That’s the type of guy we needed and the Dolphins failed him so badly that other teams besides the Steelers were afraid to get involved.

I don't think they want to tie up big money in a safety via free agency.

In mock drafts lately I've been going DL and either WR or CB in rounds one a two and Winfield has been there in the third. The kid from California has been going ahead of him. But I really like Winfield. He really turned it on in 2019 with 7 interceptions, three sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Better than Ashtyn Davis?

I like that..we could sign Vonn Bell SS cheap
AddressWR w B Perriman 4.4 speed 6'3 cheap FA was great in Tampa to replace Cobb...maybe Vic Beasley at DE ..sign a fatty DT like Shelton or Phillip's to eat space
Have to focus on CB rounds 3-5 though..losing g Jones & Brown leaves big holes

Antoine Winfield Jr is a free safety, not a strong safety. Cowboys need a playmaking, hard hitting strong safety who can also cover. Winfield Jr is not that. Plus, he's too short at 5'10".

Pass.

Wait for the combine. If Kinlaw kills it again, like he did in the Sr. Bowl practices, he will go top 10. Then again, He might be a better player than workout warrior so we'll have to see. If Kinlaw doesn't really blow it in the combine then I am with you. If he is there at 17, they have to take him. If not, then they have to take the best playmaker still on the board, offense or defense.

One thing we will know is who the Cowboys signed in free agency, which will take place before the draft. If they don't sign Cooper, then we may have to look at the WRs more closely. If they sign Cooper then they can look at a slot receiver on day 2 or 3.

But they cannot come out of this offseason without finding a DT who can push the pocket and pressure the QB. The can get by at any other position, assuming the get Dak signed, except DT.

His former secondary coach at Minnesota is now in Dallas so I'm hoping he comes here. Hes 5'10 and 200 but I dont care! He makes plays!

minnesota has a couple gophers I wouldnt mind becoming Cowboys...
s antoine winfield...kid is a magnet...the ball just comes to him.
wr tyler johnson...big,physical receiver with excellent hands...excellent route runner.

Winfield Jn reminds me of Kevin Byard who was also underrated in college but a playmaker. Baring massive injury news, you'd run to the table if Kinlaw was there and not think twice.

I like Winfield more because he's going to be pro ready being that is dad was such a good player....
