Truth About Dez Bryant

They'll be .500 / 8-8 again soon enough, don't you worry.

Is that what you are hoping for? Sure sounds like it to me.

I'm hoping for 15-1 actually, but I'm aware of what the Cowboys are capable of and it's not much.

These "get Dez the ball" threads are so lame.

All you whiners put him on your fantasy team and now are crying b/c he's not putting up huge numbers. That isn't a reason to get him the ball.

The real truth here is that like any player, Dez needs to learn the offense and carry out his role correctly on every play. That's how you get the ball

Well, then you're not that aware because they are 2 and 1.

2 - much

1 - not much

2 > 1

I doubt you can figure out that math.

Yes sir.. Dez was in his second season last year and put up pretty darn good numbers contrary to what some people think. He improves from his first season to the next, and if he improves on those numbers again this season, he's right on pace to be a great WR.

Tony needs to go his way early and often because i really feel like Dez is a guy you throw to even when it doesn't look like he's open because he'll use his strength and athletic ability to just go get it and beat his man.

Exactly.

If Tony starts targeting him like he should (assuming he's not running for his life every play for the rest of the year) i can easily see Dez catching around 90 balls for around 11 or 1200 yards and double digit TD's.

Stop making so much sense. Why Jason Garrett decides to do this right before half time against the Bucs baffled me.

Dez Came into the league younger than almost any rookie, and without playing his JR. season.. He followed that year up with a lockout year and for someone who has problems grasping playbooks that is a BIG deal.

In the amount of targets that Dez gets his production is actually off the charts. SOME if not MUCH of the blame for Dez's "Lack of production" is that the cowboys have been unable to involve him early and often. Other teams give their playmakers MANY chances to make plays..

One of Dez's best "Qualities" as a receiver is his ability to meet the ball at its highest point and win jump balls.. We give him no chances to make big plays this way.. That should change.

Once again I am waiting on the production to match the talent but to assume that it will never happen is absurd. He as of now is younger than many rookies from this years draft.

The difference between Dez Bryant and the other guys you listed is the bolded part.

Yes, it's common for young receivers to struggle early on because they have to learn the playbook as well as the nuances of the position. You can't just run by guys and out jump them for the ball like in college.

The problem is we've seen very little progress from Bryant in those areas so far.

The Cowboys can't get him involved early and often if they have little idea where he's going to be or what type of effort he's going to give from snap to snap.

Unless Dez gets the mental aspect of the game down pat, he WILL struggle.

That's not entirely true. He's come a very long way. He just doesn't do it consistently.

Great great post man. People undervalue dez. He will be a great receiver in the nfl. He's still young

The biggest thing I see with Dez, is that for what ever reason they don't involve him as much as they should. Even Miles Austin doesn't get involved in the game as much as he should. You see how often Dez just gets ignored out there. Why, I don't know..Is he not running the wrong routes, is the defense taking him out. Maybe, but I remember when Kitna was out there he looked for Dez more often and look how he performed. He's performed better in that stretch than he has so far with Romo. Not saying it's all on Romo, but there is an issue there.

MAtt Ryan feeds Roddy and julio the ball. Romo has yet to feed Dez on a regular basis. I think we saw some of his frustration boil over vs TAmpa. HE almost went Keyshawn on Romo.

I'm sure Romo would tell him "You're more than welcome to stand back there and try to throw the ball downfield behind that OL. Or you can learn your plays and shut the hell up."

Very valid post... My main issue with Dez is mental toughness, picking up the plays and being a threat for a full game.

I think Garrett should taylor the offense towards his best players not the other way around. His offense should be more flexible in that regard. I hate to bring this up but we were told that Bennett had the same problems that Dez has and now he is playing pretty well in NY, it seems he "got" that offense in one offseason.

Ogletree had those same issues here and now he finally gets it in his fourth season, thats too long. It's frustrating to see a player like Dez just wilt away here. Just find out what he does best, and let him do that. If they see him 1 on 1, get him the ball once in a while.
