Truth Serum

Other than Fleming I think Dallas should have saved their money on the rest

Our defense is still trash until proven otherwise, and all we did was age a year for the rookies, and re-sign someone who was already here when the defense was trash. I need to see significant improvement in coaching as well, I won't hold my breath.

Be honest here.... How many of you expected the Cowboys to have this many free agents of this caliber this year?

I know I didn't. Some of these guys should actually be really good signings at good value. Might be the opposite of the dumpster diving we did last year.

I mentioned in another post this Free agency has gone from a solid F to a B in about 48 hours, should they somehow manage to get Tre Boston as well at a good price, it will be outstanding.

Don’t forget we’re going to have Zeke from day 1, a hopefully healthy Smith, Irving for a full year, a better Jaylon, an improved offensive line, an improving defensive line and a up and coming QB in his 3rd year. FA isn’t over and we still have the draft. There are reasons to be optimistic if you chose to be.
Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m still much more optimistic than most (not including you) and think this year will be very telling for a lot of players and coaches. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, there shouldn’t be any excuses.

I see avg. NFL players added. I don't think one of them scares Eagles. Now if they add Suh or Earl then that changes things.

This caliber ?
:lmao2:

I still think we at least make a serious try at Bowman. I think he’s like to play with Lee, and he’s a great fit at a primarily two down LB role at this point in his career. Makes a lot of sense if the money can work, and the money shouldn’t be terrible. Maybe we even get Martin done and free up cash that way.

To answer OP, yeah, I thought we’d spend a bit heavier than usual this offseason. Jerry wants to take advantage of cheap Dak, so we’ll borrow a little bit from the future to do it. Then we’ll go big next year. Relatively.

I think we're doing pretty well, but people should remember, the plan is to build through the draft. If you want to feel happy, look at the age of the team, the young guys who have promise, and the extra comp picks we're getting.

Free agency is just not where you should expect to be saying yippee yippee yippee.

I agree but sometimes stop gaps help We seem to have picked up some decent players I'm waiting to see what we draft

True, and stop gaps are really the point of our free agent strategy. But most people don't get very excited about stop gaps. If you can get excited about the purchase of a prudent insurance plan, I salute you!

Though I think with Hurns, we've gotten #1 WR insurance, which breaks the mold on the positive side this year. Pretty decent price, too.

Remember the draft is still to come, so athough the majority of what we have done is on offense, we may now be able to focus more of the draft on defense.

I think I was hopeful because both JJones and SJones admitted after the season that they had to do better in FA.
However, the howlers needlessly became so annoying that fact got out screamed since FA begin.

Meh, same as every year and every draft. Over reaction all the way around. We don’t sign anyone, we have the worst FO in the NFL. We do sign some guys and we’re going to the Super Bowl.

The draft is no different. Almost everyone we sign is a stud until half way through the season and the FO sucks, we didn’t draft well, etc.

Same ole, same ole.
so your disappointed why am I not surprised

all we did was age a year for the rookies thats called one year of experience.
They did what was opportunistic in FA. They did what they started out to do.
Sorry for your troubles

Man, I'm not feeling this thread at all. What FA signing was a top tier player? Seems more like last year than anything. Just hoping these pan out better.
Everyone is talking like Flemming is a done deal. If Fleming doesn’t fall through, I think we’ve done pretty well so far. Would still like to sign a solid LB like Bowman. If Flemming falls through we still have serious work to do in FA.

When ur starving and someone throws u a speckle of food it’s gonna be the tastiest bit of food regardless of what it is. A piece of bologna is filet mignon

Please do not turn blue

Fleming is an upgrade over Bell. Hurns is an upgrade over Twill. Thompson is an upgrade over Butler. Thomas is an upgrade over Wilber.

So I am happy but I want one more. Make this one a no brainer starting caliber player.
Maybe the upgrade might be a change from our head scratching 2nd round picks to a trade for Earl Thomas with said pick? I hear that the Seahawks do not have a 2nd round pick in this draft. Maybe sweeten it with our 5th an T Will or Beasley.
