Tucker at RT: maybe the bashers are WRONG!

I was under the impression that Gurode was playing much better this camp. And, unlike Tucker, he at least stayed in shape during the off-season.

You have more invested in a second-round pick than an undrafted free agent, so perhaps you give him more time.

Parcells has had positive comments about how Tucker has keep his weight down and how strong he is......I believe the only issues with Tucker are mental-right?

So it seems.

But how much longer does BP wait?

If Tucker plays like he did vs. Arizona (i.e., 2 holding penalties), I'd think Tucker would be close to the end of the line . . . . Now, the entire OL pretty much stunk vs. Arizona, but from what I could make out, Tucker didn't seem to fare well in at least one of the scrimmages either.

I guess at the end of the day only BP knows where Tucker is in terms of improvement, etc. So if BP thinks that Tucker is on the verge of turning the corner, may he is?

What about Andre Gurode? Should he be off the team? He has regressed. Hell, wasn't he a 2nd round pick? Tucker is an undrafted free agent. Anything he gives us will be a bonus.

Gurode had problems because he was out of position. Now that he is back at center he is in a battle for the starting job.

Is it possible that BP has Tucker playing out of position. Gogan was tried at RT first before making it at OG, so maybe Tuck is a OG!!

Tucks too tall and cut high to play OG successfully in the NFL. That's why he was moved to RT when he came here.

Is there a point to this thread or do you just enjoy reposting bland articles about braindead offensive linemen?

He's just throwing a little caution out there, that maybe Tucker is not done yet. It beats the heck out of the Romo/Henson squabbles.

I wanted Tucker cut immediately after the game Saturday. It would have been fitting that they not even let him on the team bus to the airport (J/K). I still don't believe he will be our starter this year unless he gets it by default with Rogers being too injury prone and Rob Petitti not having enough time to develop into a starter.

Personally, my money is on Rob for the long term, but if Tucker can stop making the stupid pre-snap penalties, be an effective run blocker, and keep pass rushers off our QB; more power to him.

Tucker bashers from the Zone step up.....MYSELF included! Maybe we should slack off on Tucker and pull for him to get it all together--MENTALLY because physically he must be better then Flozel--am I reading this correctly?

The pluses if Tucker makes the team:
1. we don't have to worry about a starting RT
2. we don't have to waste a draft pick on that position
3. Bledsoe may not get killed from the right side
4. Small salary cap number

CC, there is a big leap of faith between Tucker making the team and your numbers 1 through 3. He might make the team as a backup only which would not necessarily mean that the starter solves all our problems. The starter last year was a weak link along with RG.

He's got no brains and can't take the mental game of the NFL.

That describes Gurode to a tee and he is now our starting center.....

So was kevin Gogan or they said that Gogan was way tall much like tucker he had a mean streak; I hated losing that guy to the Raiders

Gogan is listed as 6'7" Tucker is listed at 6'6" just for the record

midway through the season? I thought it was just the final 3 games, after our season was basically over anyway.

See what happens when you trust the mediots. I read one of the news items that said he was replaced after 8 games, and thought to myself, "I thought it was later in the season than that" but figured they knew what they were talking about. DOH! I checked it out and he started the first 13 games before being replaced.

My bad for trusting a mediot and not checking it out myself first.

The point is still valid though that he was replaced.

Haha! Okay. Let's all be more positive. I'm sure our positive energy will be collected by some magical fairy and sprinkled on young TT while he sleeps after a hard day of Training Camp. Yes, boys, let us feed the fairy with our positive energy.

More proof us Tucker bashers maybe eating our words...his only had two errors all year (ref below) and we saw them Saturday:

Parcells singles out Tucker's improvement

Don't count Torrin Tucker out of the running to start at right tackle just yet.

That was the message coach Bill Parcells delivered Tuesday when he went out of his way to praise the third-year player, whose tendency to commit mental errors cost him his hold on the spot last season.

"I want to stick up for a guy here," Parcells said during a news conference at training camp in Oxnard, Calif. "We had an inordinate number of mental errors at that position last year. But in all of the scrimmages we've had here and in the 47 plays he had in (Saturday's preseason opener against Arizona), he's had only two mental errors."

Parcells also praised Tucker's efforts to keep his weight under control. The 6-foot-6, 315-pound player started 13 games last season.

He has only had two mental errors? Ok, first off, I question that number. But that is neither here nor there.

If he has only made two mental errors, how do you account for all the penalties, the sacks, etc? It can only be two other things. He physically does not have enough talent to handle the position, or his technique is so bad that he gets out of position.

Either one is a big negative. There is no doubt in my mind that Tucker is gone. Bill is just hoping to get a late round pick for him. Think about it. If someone will give us a conditional 7th for Wilder, a young guy with starting experience should be worth more.

There have been players with Tuckers physique who have played guard in the NFL. I think Parcells needs a RT and he'll take one from any place he can get one that meets his expectations.

I'm not happy about Tucker's play but with Vollers as a swingman, Rob not quite ready, and Rogers seemingly injury prone that doesn't leave any real right tackles left. Parcells has got to instill some confidence into him as he may be your starting RT.

Otherwise he has to move LA to RT and depend on Peterman at LG. I don't see Peterman as ready especially compared to LA. Moving LA could cause some problems maybe at RT (doubtfully IMO) and certainly make the interior weaker. And he's gone on record as wanting the middle strong to defend Bledsoe.
