If we took an OL in the first round, it would be a big change in philosophy from the past. Dallas typically waits until the 2nd round or later to take OL talent. Assuming Flo comes back healthy and LA looks good, I doubt Dallas will change its approach.

I guess we will see. I wouldnt be surprised if they took one 2nd rd. What position/who do you think Parcells will go after in 1st?

I undertand where you are coming from...but I thing Flo will finally move to the right side and we will get a top flight LT...JMO. We won't know until April...

.......and you think a rookie LT would play at a higher level? Let's see, the last two games we have played a good Philly "D" and a pretty darn good Detroit "D"...... Julius rushed for 92 yards and I think MB scored on a run from the left side plus had around 50 yards rushing. How many sacks did TT give up?

I'm not 100% happy with TT but he's all we have right now.....

Hiero, it's a good question, and one that gets a lot of debate around here. A number of folks think a WR will get chosen, although opinions vary. LB gets mentioned a lot due to the shift to the 3-4. Quarterback comes up often in the ever popular "Henson is a bust" threads. Following those come OL and safety (though not usually 1st round). I may have missed something but those seem to be the most popular.

This year there were four OL types chosen in the first round. Most 1st round picks are skill position players (and I'll include DB's in that category). Based upon that measure, it seems to me that Dallas will choose a WR or LB in the 1st round assuming we are correct in assessing the need. A TO signing could change this of course. Take my opinion for what it's worth. Other folks on this board are much better at this than I am.

I agree with you. I think we're looking at LB first.

A top notch rok would play at a higher level then an undrafted TT...YES. Not at a higher level then Flo though. It's possible to keep Flo there and groom one.

I'm not trying to prove to anyone we will draft a LT in the first...it's just my gut...that's all. Just don't be surprised...BP likes to fix what the biggest holes are and this is one.

I don't see us taking a FS in the 1st...LB or WR is certainly a possibility...trade down is another one. I don't think this is a very good WR core, so getting a 3rd rd guy may be what we do there...becomes the #4 WR and hope he has potential to replace Keys or Glenn down the road.

portland why would we draft a LT in the first round when Flozell is coming back?

Flo is a solid LT...not great. Moving him to the right side I think he would be dominant. It's possioble we draft one...groom behind Flo next year and then move Flo the following year...there are some options.

Right now this position is hurting us....big time. We need some better top value options there. I think Pettiti will be a long term option at RT, especially after some off-season...moving Flo to RT and Pettiti sitting behind him a year or two is not a bad thing.

You make too much sense for this thread............get out of here. This is the "throw in the towel because Torrin Tucker is not a pro-bowler" thread.

Let's give up on the season becaue of Tucker. NOT Me!

Tucker is what we have, and unless Brooks or Colombo can come in and do better, that's who we play. Tucker has only played 3 games at LT.......what do you expect from him? Jonathon Ogden and Orlando Price are already under contract.

The O-Line gave up one sack yesterday, and we ran the ball pretty good. And one other thing, the OL, in case you haven't noticed is pretty equal as far as playing bad. Our high priced guards aren't playing real well most of the time.

I'm not real high on Tucker myself, but give the kid a break, he is doing OJT.

While losing any player to injury is never a good thing, losing Adams this season (if he comes back 100%) may turn out to be a blessing in disquise. Almost no team in the league has a quality backup OTs, they get snapped up to start somewhere as soon as they hit FA.

With a healthy Adams and an improved Pettiti starting next year, believe it or not, Tucker with starting experience will be one of the top five backups in the league.

I don't see the Cowboys as a legitimate Super Bowl winner this season, so anything that helps for the future isn't a bad thing.

Excellent.

This is a good team but not quite up there with the best of the best.

It will get there. Just not yet... and the kids on this team will continually improve.

We may not be to the level of Indy but we have to be close to anyone in the NFC...

Who knows what will happen in regards to injury's to other teams for the rest of the year?

I actually thought both Rob & Tuck played better run blocking then they have recently...

As far as the draft...
BPA as we won't be picking too high this year...
I could see:
WR, LBer, FS, OT...

Heck, except for the Eagle game the run blocking has been better than when Adams was part of the starting 5.

The thing is, there were another 5 offsides they didn't call. Reminds me of the Carolina playoff game that they never called any of them on.

Tucker is barely serviceable, but it's all we have. Tackles are at a premium, and our projected starters are both gone. Petitti has done a more than admirable job as a rookie, especially considering he has been a left tackle his entire career. Do something one way all your life and then try to do it the opposite way. There is a big time learning curve.

I still think I would rather have Petitti playing left tackle and Tucker at right, but Parcells knows best.

true, but the fact he was hurrying his throws most of the day and throwing off his back foot because of pressure didn't help. The Lions were up field alot yesterday that's why the draws were so successfull. I just believe we need a good draft this year on offense like we had last year def. That's not asking for much ;) :D

Nobody...not suggesting anyone. We have what we have...a horrid LT that may cost us a game all by himself.

We are now altering plays because of him............

Tucker is still doing a better job then Petitti, and we've been altering plays all year cuz of Petitti.

This thread is completely pointless.
