Turn the Running game over to TChoice

Actual the "proof" as you call it wasnt an opinion of one of the posters on this board. It was a link to a statistical analysis of all the runningbacks production in every situation and how effective each were..

I see the same usual suspects over and over again when there is any mention of Choice... Why do you guys dislike Choice so much?

Can you both really type with straight faces that you don't think Choice is talented enough to have a chance to carry the load?

Bleu... I actually like Choice. I like all of our players. For some reason people think everyone has to take sides on every player or issue. Its not always like that. Sure the Choice threads saying the same thing over and over has gotten old. But as a player I like Choice. I think so many people have a difficult time reading an entire post. Because in all of my post i will mention that i like the guy and am interested in seeing what he can do. Its not an anti- choice agenda on my end. Its more about realistic expectations from our 3rd back. I criticize the coaches ect as much as anyone. But when I see all of our backs getting hit behind the line I think it really doesnt matter which guy is carrying the ball.

In general I think the league is a passing league. I think the main purpose of a running back these days is to keep the defense close to the line of scrimmage. This opens up passing lanes. I know Barber scares no one. In fact i would like to see his carries get completely taken away at this point.
So its not anti Choice from me. Its anti 3rd running back that doesnt deserve the hype and constant pumping around here. Its a difference of opinion over whether he deserves this much "message board" hype based on production so far.

Nice - name calling. It fits with your tendency to overexaggerate and dramatize and even fabricate what the words of those you disagree with actually say.

I can see why my tendency to discuss your actual words seems foreign to you given your inability to do the same.

Let me give you a lesson in clarity. If you mean to say people have posted links to websites that show statistical comparisons, just say that. If what you actually say is that you go by the posts of others, that's what comes across.

Frankly it's a little funny for you to suggest that people should have taken your post as meaning they can go back and search a bunch of unspecified posts in unspecified threads from some on specified point in the past for an unspecified link, when anyone could easily just go straight to any number of websites themselves and find a statistical comparison.

Haha, naw. I just like ribbing you a bit about it. I remember you were wondering why the fans and posters on this board were at each others throats about varying issues concerning the cowboys, early on.

Now we see that there was something there all along to be in heated debate about.

Ahhhh. I see. Well, The relegation of Choice to 3rd down back by "this coaching staff" still leaves me wondering why he hasn't had a chance to play a bigger role. I have zero confidence in the decisions by "this coaching staff". I happen to believe that Choice has the heart, talent, and drive to succeed as a 1st level load carrying running back at the NFL level. Sadly, the inept coaching staff continues to make questionable decisions. Hopefully their lack of awareness won't result in us letting a true 20-30 carry RB get away to rack up yards on another team.... It's not hype or jock riding where it pertains to Choice. I, personally, liked what I saw from day one. I don't proclaim to be Nostradamus or anything but I saw enough of him in 4 successive games last year to know what he can do. Third string relegation or not... Choice can carry the load if given the opportunity. This particular coaching staff is blind.

I don't fault the staff for wanting to give Felix the bigger opportunity - after all, that's what he was drafted for, and Felix does have some explosiveness that Choice doesn't have. But Choice clearly did enough 2 years ago while Felix and Barber were hurt against some great run defenses to merit consideration. He showed he could carry the load at that time, which is something we have not yet seen from Felix. Maybe that's just due to lack of opportunity, maybe not, but it doesn't change what Choice did. Given the likely limited time Barber has in Dallas, i just don't understand not working Choice in more. I'm fine with Felix still being more of the lead RB, but 8-10 carries a game would spell Felix and give us a chance to see more of Choice.

But Choice clearly did enough 2 years ago while Felix and Barber were hurt against some great run defenses to merit consideration. He showed he could carry the load at that time, which is something we have not yet seen from Felix. Maybe that's just due to lack of opportunity, maybe not, but it doesn't change what Choice did. Barber seemed to start losing his edge when he listened to Emmitt and others say it was okay to step out of bounds instead of taking punishment that could shorten his career. What they failed to tell him is that he isn't the same quality RB they were, and that if he loses his "fight for every inch" attitude he simply won't be anything more than a mediocre RB.

Felix is bigger and it shows. Still has good straight line speed, but the cuts don't seem as crisp or as quick.

Choice .... well, who knows. It's been over a year and a half since his stretch of starts where he played so well, and he hasn't had enough opportunities since to tell how he stands now. I would love to see him get a chance.

And I agree with you both.

The other factor with Barber that was overlooked by Jerry et al. was that he has never been a lead back. Parcells knew what he had and crafted his role which he performed extremely well in college and the pros - part of a RB combo. He went to the Pro Bowl as a non-starter! Perfect example of, "it aint broke, don't fix it." And also a p*** poor evaluation of talent by Jerry et al. to just assume "more would be better" and dump the huge contract and starters role in his lap. End result? A change in his style, as you pointed out, making him less effective and very ordinary, and also an inablility to stay healthy in spite of those changes.

Felix is definitely not the same back. So right in that he got bad advice.

And I've always believed Choice had the best vision, feel and overall skills of the three. The most natural runner. That make-you-miss factor in close quarters which is so valuable. Plus, he is the ONLY one who was THE GUY at a major college program in a legitimate conference. Say what you want, but that cannot be just dismissed. And I think his success in '08 against the top three run defenses bears that out.

What would happen now? I think it would take a little time to get his rythym back, as well as his wind. It's been a while since he's had 15-20 carries. But I'd love to see it happen.

Choice is hands down the best RB on our roster,too bad Red and Fatso dont see that.
