I can't see either of these happening but I wouldn't be opposed to either move if they could make it happen.

It's not like this team has set the standard for discipline and organization.

supercowboy8;4218102 said:Both are on a very hot seat. Garrett is very close to Turner adn Sparano is very close to Jerry and Stephen and also Romo. Would it make sense and be a smart move to bring them both back.
Make Turner what he is really good at, the OC and let Garrett be a HC. Would Garrett do it? I mean they are very close and Turner might be one of the only person in the world that Garrett would trust.
Sparano would be a nice OL and RB coach, he is also a very good QB coach. I would love to bring him in to be our new OL and RB coach. I love his fire and attitude. This OL needs that fire and attitude. Sparano did say in a press conference that his daughter is now in college in Texas, don't know what school but that would bring him closer to his daughter.
Just a thought or two.

shockandroll;4218407 said:Yeah, cause Norv has San Diego's offense and QB firing on all cylinders, lol.
I'm a fan of Garrett having an OC on principle because I don't think he does a good job of making adjustments in game or using the talent to their strengths. I think he has a great offense design but does not have the line to execute it and seems unwilling to accept that.
I think what Miami has been dealing with is a better example of coaches doing everything they can to maximize the talent they have. Nothing is ever a sure thing, but I'd be curious to see what that staff could do with our or San Diego's talent.
I look at what Billick did with the Ravens and that is a great example of a coach adjusting to their strengths and abilities. He was a huge fan of big offense and completely reinvented himself based on the talent he did not have on offense.
I think Garrett would be much more successful if he did the same. I do not think he's playing to our strengths and is in fact trying to make them play to their weaknesses.
This line cannot execute a shotgun snap and cannot pass protect for plays that take so much time to develop. But what do we keep doing?

- A no nonsense approach.
- A standard of character for players he brings in.
- An expectation from each player and not compromising it.
- A work ethic that could at best be matched, but not surassed.
- Probably one of the smartest people in the NFL. (even if he is a little green)
I could probably continue this list.

The best CEOs in the country hire the smartest hardest working guys who are masters in what they do. The smartest thing Garrett could do is get Jerry to let him hire an OC. Let Rob do his job, let his OC do his job, and Garrett do his job. His job is to lead the team, and set the standard by which they go about their job.
Chocolate Lab;4218445 said:LOL.
A no-nonsense approach? Oh, such as his DC acting like a clown almost every week? (An entertaining clown, but a clown nonetheless.)
Standard of character? We've brought in good people for years now.
Expectations for players and not compromising them? Like knowing what routes to run? Like not jumping offsides all the time? Like knowing how and when to snap the freaking ball to Romo?
A work ethic that could not be surpassed? Says who?
One of the smartest people in the NFL? I guess you mean something other than football smart, which is all that matters.
You've made a nice summary of the Garrett Campaign Team bullet points, but unfortunately very little of that seems to be translating to the product on the field. Which again, is all that matters.
Sam I Am;4218457 said:I'm not sure you actually know what a head coach's job is.
The Emperor;4218153 said:Norv Turner would never serve under someone that he once coached. He doesn't have the ego for it.
Chocolate Lab;4218459 said:What is it then? Go ahead and tell us.
Sam I Am;4218480 said:I've already stated it. You even responded to the post, but obviously do not know what his job is as you argued that he sucks.
Garrett can teach football, but his job is to manage the team. Being a HC is a full time job. Being a OC is a full time job. He has no business being both. The Cowboys need to hire an OC and let Garrett do what he is best at. Being a leader and setting standards by which this team will operate.
Galian Beast;4218486 said:I would hire Sparano NOW as an offensive coordinator or offensive consultant, this offseason? There will be much better options available.
Chocolate Lab;4218491 said:I didn't say he sucks. I said that all, or most, of these nebulous things that he supposedly brings to the table don't show up on the field.
And Bill Walsh, Joe Gibbs, Andy Reid, Mike McCarthy, Rex Ryan, and plenty of other head coaches have served as their own coordinator and have done fine.
I think we'd be better off with another OC, but not because it's impossible for a good coach to do both. It's because they'd be better at it than Garrett.
