Turner is not my choice but...

In the last five years of his tenure, when the Commanders were more or less contenders in the NFC he went 40-36-1. Obviously the Commanders record did improve during his tenure.
it's sad that we need to manipulate stats to remotely convince ourselves norv is a good hire.

this is like a doctor telling you "we have good news... we thought originally you only had 24 hours to live but you should last 48 hours." ;)

40-36-1 is meh and if the 'boys weren't ineptly run he'd probly be very close to 500 with his "improved" skins team.

That doesn't mean he didn't tutor or develop them as the original post stated

So what? Just because they were on the team with the great genius Turner means they learned by osmosis or something? Brees was an elite college player as was Smith they had the talent and intelligence to do it all along. The supposed QB genius let the best QB on his Commander roster rot while pissing away years on schmucks like Heath Shuler and Jeff George.

Trent Green, Drew Brees and potentially Alex Smith come to mind.

True, Trent Green did develop under Norv. But you can't ignore the fact that when Green actually played for Norv, the team went 6-10. Drew Brees practically never played his one year under Turner, losing the job to Doug Flutie, and struggled for years after Norv left before becoming a good qb. And certainly Alex Smith has looked better this year than as a rookie. But like with Troy, is this Norv's magic, or the normal maturation of an elite prospect? I think that to a great extent, Norv has lucked into his reputation as a qb guru by having a great qb (and possibly another ) fall into his lap.
