Twitter: Turpin has put the NFL on notice

The NFL won’t be put on notice until he returns one for a TD during the regular season. He’s not likely to get many opportunities returning a KO because teams will kick the ball deep into the end zone.

Reputations are earned in the regular season. A lot of players have the ability that’s why they’re returning punts and kicks.
That's fine and you have your opinion, but once it's on film IN the NFL some teams will notice him. It's return men it's not QB or anything like that

I agree. I like that LA didn't so that it could get a good look at its special-teams coverage, because that's what the preseason is for. We know Maher has a powerful leg, so we didn't need to see him put his kickoffs in the end zone. We should have done like LA and gave the Chargers returnable kicks.

Most of his return options will come on punts.

He’ll certainly be noticed but it’s not like he’s going to be the talk of the NFL because he returned a couple of kicks in a preseason game. Most don’t even keep track of what happens in a preseason game. If he does the same thing in a regular season game everyone’s going to see it and they’ll be a lot of talk about it. I’m not trying to downplay his performance, it was great but it was a preseason game with a lot of young players.

He made a lot of money last nite.

That's a fact.....it's the first I've laid eyes on the kid and I mean........DAMN. The speed and (4.29) 40 time are one thing, but what I noticed on his punt return was rare vision and elusiveness that few are blessed with. I looked him up and found out he's had some off the field issues in years past but they appear to hopefully be behind him now. I think he's a real legit replacement for Wilson and due to our injuries will get a shot at slot and even split wide some....why? Because he can really stress a defense vertically without even having the ball thrown his way. That's a friggin' luxury that Dak needs with Gallup and Washington out.

So who will our main 4 WR's be vs. Tampa? I'm late to the party: Lamb, Tolbert, Brown and Turpin? Feel like I'm missing someone.......oh yeah: Fehoko who looked good last night too. Add Schultz and Ferguson to the mix and our passing game will be fine until Gallup and Washington can return IF the commitment to the run really works like we all want it to. Lastly: kinda reminds me of DeSean Jackson which isn't a bad thing necessarily.

Not just unreal speed, Turpin got smooth moves too.

Gives me Deion vibes when he's running with ball.

Right! That juke he made at the point of attack on the punt return was a thing of beauty. You can't coach speed, vision or instincts. He displayed all 3 in a very fluid manner. One thing about STs is it's all the fast guys on the team. So in STs I don't buy into the argument "it's the preseason and most of the players won't be there in the regular season". Special teams is speed guys in preseason and regular season. He's exciting. I think he could be the best thing to happen to is this offseason. He basically won the game for us.

Our opponents will be putting in extra time on ST's now.

K's and P's will be doing out of the end zone kicks, and directional punting. Heck they may tell the P just to do a touchback instead of pinning them deep. Better for us to start at the 20 instead of the 40, or a TD. :muttley:

Yes, I think teams will try to avoid kicking to him. We might see the ball at the 40, cuz I think some teams might rather have us at the 40 than him scoring.

Yes, you can try that but how did that work on Devin Hester?

While I agree with your premise at least for the kickoffs, since Hester has played the NFL has moved up the kickoff position, to increase touchbacks, and implemented rules limiting blocking formations.

Punts though, Turpin can have a good chance to shine.

The Cowboys haven't had a return man like this since Dwayne Harris, but Turpin seems faster, quicker and well suited and natural for the position. Either way, he is gonna have an effect on KO and PR. Whether they kick to him or not. He will get his chances. It would be wise for KM to work him into some offensive plays where he can run quick slants, lazy posts, sweeps, screens and even deep posts. Even more for the opponents to game plan. Yes he's only about 5'6 and 11 stones; but rules now are in favor of the passing game so he could be a pain for defenders. IT'S TURPIN TIME, BABY...:flagwave:

The moves he made on punt return was amazing, the guys change of direction and his ability to turn on the jets was awesome. Even on the jet sweep what looked like a no gain, he was able to slow down to set the defender up then turned on the jet for a 7 yard pick up. Looking forward to seeing him this season.

Dude is gonna be a gamer. I can't remember being this excited about a "low profile" FA signing.

Plus there's something about a 26 year old rookie that makes you just wanna root for him.
