Ugh, Jim Nantz and Phil Simms....

call me crazy but that is my favorite broadcast team..... i really like simms alot.

I definitely prefer the cbs announcers over the fox announcers. Can't stand buck/aikman at all and some of those other combos on fox

They're one of my favorites as well.

Has absoultley nothing to do with the Titans. LA is a secondary market for the Chargers and it's mandatory they have to air every San Diego road game. Frankly that's the game they should show in LA anyway.

I live in LA and Dallas is shown over San Diego every week. Every week. We are in the Dallas market, not the San Diego one.

Because Dallas is on fox...

Chargers are on CBS...

If the chargers arent blacked out youre gonna get the chargers on channel 2 (cbs).

This weeks game is on cbs because its against tennesse. Thats why were getting the charger/oakland game unless there is a blackout.

Fair enough. But what I do not understand is this...if FOX would show Dallas over SD in LA, then I assume it is ONLY because they get higher ratings that way. Therefore, why would CBS show SD instead of Dallas?

Do they have a specific contract with the AFC teams that supercedes the ratings?!?

Yea.

CBS is home to AFC teams and FOX is home to NFC teams.

Because there is no NFC team local to LA, LA becomes a secondary market for the Cowboys (probably because of ratings) when the cowboys are on FOX.

Otherwise the primary market (chargers) will supersede all other games unless their is a blackout.

not exactly true. maybe if san diego is on the road but if san diego is the home team on cbs, there have been times here where dallas is shown on a home game vs afc (CBS) over a san diego home game. i remember thinking it was strange at the time but it has happened several times in the 5 years i've lived out here.

EDIT...i take that back...looking at the season schedules and some of the broadcast maps...it only happened once i could find. i thought it was a more normal occurrence.

And to get a blackout, the game must not be a sell-out in Oakland? Fat chance of that happening I would suppose.

Actually oakland is having trouble selling out this year. A lot of people are expecting it to be blacked out but we will see. I think it has to sell out 72 hrs before game time. So we should know friday at the latest.

Yeh, I just found an article that said that Oakland was blacked out a lead high 7 times last year. Out of 8 games, thats pretty high.

However, I would imagine San Diego would be the biggest home rivalry of the year?

10.6 unemployment will do that. SD has also had a Blackout this season.

are blackouts just for the local area? it wouldn't impact other areas that are broadcasting the game right? like SD would still see that game, just oakland would be blacked out for not selling out right?

Correct. The viewing area of Oakland would be affected outside that area the blackout does not apply

If that's true then we are screwed in LA either way.
