In the DFW market, the Cowboys-Bills game drew a 24 rating after halftime. This while the national ratings were off the charts fantastic.
Wow. I can't emphasize enough just how awful those numbers are for DFW. On Thanksgiving, no less. That number should be around 40. There's almost nothing else to do that time of day on Thanksgiving, and these are the Cowboys. What about Thanksgiving tradition?
People are done. Bored, and fed up. Past it. What is the point anymore?
The Cowboys fan base has never been this apathetic. I'm a prime example. I barely get moved one way or the other by wins and losses these days. That just isn't me. It's not that I'm getting older or that I've outgrown it.
I just don't like this unlikable team much, with its self-aggrandizing joke of an owner, its willingly castrated clapper at head coach, its lackluster quarterback, its aloof running back, and its cast of wannabe great players up and down the roster.
Sometimes I think I'd swap owners, coaching staffs, and rosters with just about any team in the league. Just for a different vibe.
When I saw that TV rating, which looks like a preseason game, I realized that I'm not alone.
That's the reason Jerry's got tears in his eyes. His good-time party is about to be over. He's got to go get another Parcells to save him from himself. He hates that.
