He was never that productive in Dallas. If he knew the plays like the back of his hand he would have been in the proper position to make the catch vs NY in the playoffs. He was a malcontent that had to go
Whoa, I've got to disagree with that. For a 2nd and 3rd receiver, he was HUGELY productive, and he scored a lot of touchdowns.

I do agree that the NY non-catch is a blemish that will never fade with me. Dad nabbit!!

Also, he was in proper position for that catch, he just didn't catch it.

Anyways, this is more about how much our current #3 WR situation sucks donkeys than the greatness of Patrick Crayton. Crayton might be an average to slightly below average #3 slot WR at this point in his career, and still be better than what we have.

He had a couple of decent years in Dallas he then got a attitude and was becoming a problem.

His time in SD with Phillip Rivers was a complete bust.

He is not getting better with age and I seriously doubt Garrett wants this guy back. We may go out and get a vet off waviers but I think it is highly unlikely that it will be Crayton.

And Crayton has no upside to him. I would rather go with 2nd year guys who have worked their butt off than some idiot who can't keep him mouth shut. Primadona without the talent. Hell I'll put up with a big ego guy if they can delivery I be damned to put up with it from some JAG

Everything in SD was a complete bust last year, ESPECIALLY Phillip Rivers.

With this crop of receivers, we might not have a choice.

Me, too, but what if they all suck, which is very possible.

I'm not a huge fan of bringing Crayton back but it wouldnt be a huge disappointment to me as if we brought back t.o. Crayton was pretty good when he played here but to me he will always be remembered for his drop against the giants in the playoffs.

I hope a young guy steps up in that 3rd receiver spot but if not i'd be all for bringing in Crayton.

Did Donald Driver ever sign anywhere?

He's still a Packer.

Rivers did not have a great year he still hit 62% of his passes and he still threw for over 4000 yards and yet Crayton was not much of a factor. The guy is over rated big time here. He is a loud mouth JAG nothing more. Dallas taking steps backwards with idiots is a mistake. You want a team not some jerk in the locker room creating problems this team does not need it.

They had three good receivers, and Crayton was a cheap security blanket with the holdout of Vincent.

He barely played.

Crayton is not all that, you act as if he is some top WR he is not and his numbers are getting worse not better. He went to a pass friendly team and did not do JACK. Dallas very well may look to the wavier wire to get a WR with more experiance but I seriously doubt Crayton will be that guy.

They don't have much right now Mechem and a very good TE outside that they don't have much and do not want to bring bacvk Crayton but then he did not do jack in SD. They at least know his talent is not there

We are at the tail end of replacing all of the Patrick Craytons on this team. No need to move backwards.

No, moving backwards was when we traded for Roy Williams for a ridiculous price and lost Crayton as a result.

"Going to the waiver wire to get a vet" will have to include someone who already knows the offense and can step right in Day 1 and contribute. That's a considerably shallow pool.

Agreed. And, I actually posted similar sentiments at the time. However, signing Crayton at this point is, indeed, moving backward. But thanks anyway.;)

Funny OP seeing that Crayton was in the crew that sided with TO disrespecting Romo and Witten

At least to some degree, I think Crayton is yet another WR who is JAG without Romo ....hehe

Let's just move forward. Somebody has to have some **** around here to step up and own that position.
