Ezekiel Elliott wants to know what a "SB" is.
Line one.
There was a Bama alum screaming that at the time and we shouted him down. He was right,Ramsey or slight trade down.....but not Elliott at 4.
that was my stance then and it still is.
But to be fair, Zeke was very good his first few years. Just, for so many reasons, not worth the 4th overall pick.
Ramsey and Henry would've been nice.
A blurb from that draft:
"Some scouts on the road think he's overrated and some think he's the next Richard Sherman. We all agree that he's going to win the combine and that (Mike) Mayock won't stop talking about him." -- NFC director of football operations
He had microfracture surgery on his knee in his sophomore year of high school.
Personality Issues were a concern when he was drafted.
- Those have shown up in his NFL career:
On April 25, 2019, the Jaguars picked up the fifth-year option on Ramsey's contract.[71] Ramsey started the Jaguars' first three games, totaling 13 solo tackles with a pass deflection and a forced fumble. However, during a 13–12 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 2, Ramsey was involved in a verbal altercation with Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone, and the player and coach had to be physically restrained from each other.[72] The following day, reports surfaced that Ramsey was demanding a trade, but he started the following week in a 20–7 victory over the Tennessee Titans, the Jaguars' first victory of the season.[73] The following week, Ramsey was placed on the inactive list, with the team announcing that Ramsey would be absent in order to attend the birth of his second child.[74] Ramsey would never play for the Jaguars again, remaining on Jacksonville's inactive list from Week 4 through Week 6.
2020
Following a 17–9 Week 4 victory against the New York Giants, a fight broke out between Ramsey and his ex-girlfriend’s brother Golden Tate after the game was over due in part to Ramsey’s comments against Tate’s sister Breanna who had two children with him. On October 10, 2020, Ramsey was fined $15,625 for his role in the postgame fight.
Oh they would have screwed it up for sure, but I believe Romo would have stuck around for a couple more years unless he once again got a bad injury. For how long? Romo was falling apart, physically. That wasn't going to lessen with age.
I'm confident the Jones boys would've screwed it up, either way. It's what they do.
He was the man in 16.I have to admit that Zeke was thrilling to watch his first 3 seasons. Trucking dudes and moving the sticks
The mistake was to extend him but at least he had the numbers to back it up….miss that player
I think the kink in the chain was Romo was coming off an injury and Meyer said Elliott was the best player without the ball he'd ever seen.People will call this hindsight, but there were plenty of members on this board including me that thought Ramsey should have been the obvious pick.
Taking an RB in the top 5 that wasn't anywhere close to having a once in a generation type of talent is one of the more idiotic picks we've had in years.
I call BS on Ramsey. Cowboys said something more like they would consider him at #4.
I am still glad they took Elliot instead. If for anything else, to see the meltdowns.
Also if Ramsey was the pick, all the ones wanting him, would have been whining about the huge contract he would have wanted and if he got it.
You would say Stephen is an idiot to pay that much.

Little did they realize the toll that time would take on Elliott . . .
If the Cowboys drafted Ramsey, I would think the team would have drafted the big man (Derrick Henry) from Alabama in the second round. Dak would be even better. In an alternate history we draft Ramsey instead of Zeke and things would be very different.
Dak doesn't have Zeke winning the rushing title by over 300 yards and being 1st team all pro and riding that wave to the #1 seed their rookie year.
What happens with Dak if he doesn't have the best RB in the NFL for his first 3 seasons? Romo surely gets his spot back in 2016 and Dak is now the back up? Does he ever get a chance to be the guy? Would he even be in the league right now?
What happens with the defense? Zeke made the Cowboys better in the short term, but Ramsey would have been the better guy long term. Zeke is now washed while Ramsey still plays at a pretty high level.
We would not have those horrible Zeke or Dak contracts right now. We'd have Ramsey on a big contract, but he'd be much better value than both Zeke and Dak.
Looking back, it's clear the Cowboys made the wrong choice.
Nice attempted excuse making. A big fat fail, but nice attempt nonetheless.
