Two Back Offense?

If Pollard is everything the FO thinks he is I wonder how he'll be used. He sounds like he can be more than just a rb. I wonder how teams will respond to seeing him in there with Zeke, maybe the Cowboys start with 2 rbs in the backfield, then motion Pollard into the slot. Will they always send out their nickel packages or will they go with their base 4-3/3-4?

I wonder what other formations they will do with this personnel and how successful they will be. I think Pollard in the slot could be good, but they need to have success in other formations so it will keep the opposing defense guessing.

From now until the season starts is the worst time of the year.

All I know is Moore has more than enough toys in his toy box to go all out madden football.

A 29 year old who came up playing madden as he says!

I got news for ya...

In all seriousness, the only way Pollard is worth the pick is if the offense is drastically different. I don't really see it happening.

Not really. They already had the flex back role with Whitehead, Dunbar, and Austin. jet sweeps, screens and the outside/vertical passing game along with flexing out at WR and lining up as a traditional RB.

Him and Zeke both allow them to go from a passing to a running formation and vice versa with the same personnel on the field. Zeke drastically improved in that multiplicity last season.

The defense stacks the box and we can spread the formation. they go small or spread out and audible into the I or pro formation and run our inside isoes and leads.

I wasn't saying that anyone can do what Witten does. But what Vrabel did? Short yardage blocker/receiver. He caught touchdowns. And he played defense. He was neither a blocker nor a receiver.

If you start with an OT, you've got the blocking handled.

Is it really that hard for an OT to run a 3 yard out or stick, put up his hands, and catch a football? Everyone on the team is a great athlete. I can see that some guys might not have the eye hand coordination. But some guys would. They have huge hands.

This is about getting lost in the wash, not faking anyone out. Run to a spot. Turn around. Catch the ball. Infinitely easier for them to do that for Rico to learn how to block.

Then you risk the olewale play. He got open, had space in front, but he wasn't good enough to catch a poorly underthrown pass from Dak. Things like that make it hard for coaches not to use their best players. I trust with to make a tough catch more than the other TE's combined. I just hope Moore finds a way to get everyone involved more so they can get better together.

Yeah this is what I mean. The Cowboys were able to counter what the Saints do with Kamara by having Lewis guard him. I don't think teams will have that luxury (assuming Pollard is as good as Kamara, which obviously isn't known) of going nickel because we'd just run all over them.

You could do the same thing with Tavon Austin.

Seems like we see this kind of thread every year. Just gonna say this, and I hope I'm wrong but, here goes...... Every year we bring in a swiss knife kinda guy who is supposed to be the one who can do a lot of things and create mismatches for the opposition. Every year we see them a little bit in Pre-Season and every year, when the regular season rolls around, they go to whatever part of the bench players go to, to die. I'm not getting my hopes up.

Just like the te bonepile of scrubs we got. But they never get benched.

I don’t see him getting many carries a game. I think he will be used as a wr in motion the most. Hopefully they watch how saints utilize kamara and take some plays

Austin is not able to stay on the field nor does he produce much when he is. Nevermind Pollard has similar speed with 4 extra inches of height and 40 lbs.
Neither of those things matter, when it comes to scheme.

Uh, coaches should tailor their scheme to the players available as opposed to the non-present ideal. in this case, Austin is too often not available due to injury nor is he productive in the scheme. Further, Pollard is much more suited to a scheme where you move your backs between the traditional role and flexing them out wide due to his size.

Uh, the Cowboys offense under JG has literally never done that, that's my point.

Lewis only played 8 snaps in that game (on defense).

Every year it’s the same thing with 4th round gadget players...big dreams that come to nothing.

our new OC better have plans lol...otherwise its a strange pick choosing a player like Pollard where we did.

My guess is he will get looks as a specialist then go from there.
