Two play-calls that INFURIATED me...

Let me start by saying I love Jason Garrett. And I'm sure that my issues with the following play-calls are probably unfounded and inappropriate, seeing as how he's the Offensive Coordinator and I'm a fan watching on TV.

I'd also like to emphasize that I don't mean to be a kill-joy. I'm THRILLED that we won and look to be moving towards home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.

But these two play-calls pissed me off like no other. I'll bet I wasn't the only one.

1) Our first drive. 3rd and 5 inside the Green Bay 10. Shotgun, Julius next to Romo, 4 receiver set. Rather than trying to pass for the 1st down and probably the TD, we run a draw inside to Julius... he gains 3-4 yards, and we settle for the FG. Couldn't believe my eyes.

2) Opening drive of the 2nd half. 4th and 2 at around the Green Bay 32. We're going for it, and I loved the decision. With a 10 point lead, a TD does a LOT more damage than a FG, which would only push the lead to 13 if Folk can hit from 49-50. Julius in the back-field, T.O. in motion. Green Bay stacking the LOS. No way do we trust Julius to pick this up, do we? We do. Stuffed, turnover on downs. Again, couldn't believe my eyes. We were passing on these guys AT WILL. Romo had all day to throw, and he was playing at a VERY high level. I can't believe we didn't put the play in his hands rather than in Julius'. And does anybody here trust Julius MORE than Barber to pick up 2 yards on 4th down?

Thoughts?

The 1st play was actually a pretty good playcall. I think 9 times out of 10 we make that first down.

The 2nd play was infuriating. Marion should have been in the game there.

I swear, Julius is a decoy, maybe Garrett thought that lining up w/ Julius in short-yardage would have had the Packers thinking pass

just like the Packers thinking running Grant 2 straight times w/ Favre under center would make us bite on the flea-flicker

I was just waiting for a draw on that 3rd and 19 where we were backed up inside our own 20. that 3rd down conversion was HUGE. that play-call took some guts and we would have never even thought about that last year

I don't have problems with the calls. I Just think the outcome would have been different had it been Barber on both of those carries. I can't understand why you run julius when you need tough power running type yards.

DOn't wory, you were only having Parcell flashbacks. It is akin to post traumatic stress disorder. But don't worry, they will go away over time. :D

The two play calls that infuriated me were the consecutive passes to Barber behind the LOS.

Im dead sick of seeing Julius come off the bench when barber is rumbling. Its infuriating to say the least. I have no problem with Julius but that position could easily be upgraded in the offseason.

I think both of those plays were designed to go down field but Romo dumped them off due to pressure.

Ok.... but they seemed a little dangerous at the time...

:hammer: on both counts.

We ran that draw out of the shotgun a few times. The coaching staff must have seen something that made them think it would work. ANd it did work.

The second play was fine... if MB3 is in the game. I don't care about the "Rotation" when it's a critical running down/distance, I want MB3 in the game.

the first play you are referencing was run because we have scored on it before...but that was not the bad play of the drive..the first play down inside the 10 was the REAL drive killer. Why would you EVER run a play where Crayton has to win a jump ball? Every other time down their Crayton scored when he ran across the face of the defender....that is the ONLY way you can use Crayton under those circumstances....over the middle.

I loved the decision to go for it....but how many more times do we need to see JuJo run into the back of his blockers before EVERYONE all agree's he is done in Dallas? For the few who still want him back if he comes cheaply...WAKE UP! He IS a robot...Barber would have stopped on a dime, found the hole to the LEFT of the guard and got the first down. So I was fine with the decision, even fine with a running play, but the wrong guy was in the game. This OL is HIGHLY paid....they have to develop a mentality and confidence...so they should be offended if we do not run behind them in 4th and short....that is why Davis was brought here. I hope we make the same decision in the future and I hope Barber is in the game.

At this point JuJo is just playing because he is good on screens, draws and blitz pickup and can give Barber a blow. He IS a 3rd down back, even thought he starts. Best of luck in the future Julius!!!!

The first play wasn't a bad call just poorly blocked.

The second one I was pretty upset by though as it was doomed to failure from the start. Play-action on that play would have worked much better and probably would have resulted in a TD pass to Witten.

Taking a knee at the end of the first half peeved me. We had plenty of time to try move into field goal range.

usual over reaction. Funny how MB3 never gets jobbed for all the times he screws up but JJ gets put on the rack ALL the time.

I think it's because Barber makes up for it by making big plays when there isn't much room to work with.

Yeah, I found that 4th down play infuriating....

The Cowboys coaches have demonstrated a small stubborn streak when it comes to Julius Jones.... they'll use Jones in critical short yardage situations even though they have a better option on the bench.

But these coaches seem pretty smart. They'll figure it out.

I agree on short yd situations you should have MB3 in there. I guess they were figuring the D would not expect us to run with JJ in there- ooopppsss.

There were two plays that got me reallt mad were the 62 yard TD by Ryan Grant...everyone was within 5 to 7 yards from the line of scrimage and our safeties looked so suprised that they both wiffed on the tackle and off to the races with no one in sight...that's in excusable.

Then on the Barber run just before theTO interception (Romo didn't throw one) I believe it was. To was "blocking" Al Harris. If TO would have pushed him one yard to the outside instead of just standing there barber scores.
