Was at the game with the wife and we got stuck in a line for nachos during half time and of course that was when those two TD's happened.

We nearly didn't go back to our seats out of superstition considering the entire first half was miserable.

Keep buying $15 dollar nachos!

I just posted the stats in this thread. They are 22nd.
Well, sort of. You're discounting the times when the defense actually did the scoring, which we're really good at (only two teams have more defensive TDs). If those had all resulted in tackles deep in opponent territory, we'd end up ranking higher in your stat. I'm guessing that these stats are driven far more by field position than by the offenses in question.

Also, your numbers are wrong: we've scored 41 points off those 17 turnovers, not 38 (I checked and found the two field goal drives, so it's definitely not 38). And SF has 3 return TDs, not one. Not sure how many other errors there are.

Here are the 16 turnovers in question (I'm ignoring the one at the end of the Eagles game where we just kneeled out the clock after).

(Yards away from goal line where we took possession), (points scored off TO)
93,0
80,0
68,0
63,0 (near the end of PHI game, just running)
62,0
53,0
51,7
48,0
45,7
38,0 (near the end of PHI game, just running)
35,0 (missed FG)
35,3
16,7
15,3
4,7
3,7

So on average, we get the ball after a turnover at the opponent's 44 yard line and score 2.5 points. According to Advanced NFL Stats, the expected points from that field position is around 2.0, so we're doing better than average.

For comparison, I checked the Jets (2nd on your list, with very few turnovers). I discounted a fumble they recovered on the last play of a game. They have 5 takeaways that they didn't return for a TD. Every one of those 5 came on the opponent's side of the field. As I said, these numbers are almost entirely about field position.

lol I did that at the Commanders game last year and got weak and went back to my seat in the midway in 4Q, boy was that a mistake

So you're the reason we lost that one! :)

Keep buying $15 dollar nachos!

They were 9 bucks actually, which was shocking to me considering 12oz soda's were 5 bucks a piece.

Affordable nachos, Cowboys won and I was surrounded by Vikings Fans which made the victory all the sweeter. It was a good day.

Well, the Cowboys would mathematically score 5,040 points in a game if they scored two touchdowns every ten seconds. :)

(Assuming the kicker converted all 720 extra-point attempts)

Sounds good to me.

When was last time Cowboys had two TDs in 10 seconds or pretty close to it? I can't remember

I agree, awesome sequence on Sunday. To answer your question: if my memory is correct we had 2 quick touchdowns during one of the Eagles games last year. I think it was a Dwayne Harris punt return followed by a B Carr pick 6, or vice versa.

Hmm, well I did adjust for when the defense scored, but the SF thing must have just been a typo on my part when I figured it up. If the numbers are wrong, otherwise, then it must be because of 2 pt conversion attempts, but doesn't change the ranking much (if at all). The starting field position is important, but I don't know of a site that provides that stat for after turnovers instead of all drives.

I remember a Monday night game against Minn years ago where Emmitt had two long TD runs on back to back offensive plays. I think he broke his finger on the second run, but he almost hast 200 yards in the first half... Cant remember the year but it was really fast back to back td's.

1999 season. Cowboys took a 17-0 lead but then allowed 27 straight points and lost, 27-17. Emmitt and Aikman were both injured in that game.

Emmitt had two long touchdown runs, and had 144 rushing yards before he was injured, I think,.
